According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network plans to revive both Fear Factor and The Weakest Link, but they won’t be exactly like fans remember the 2000s reality show hits.

The Weakest Link will return this fall with a celebrity version of the show airing Mondays at 9 p.m. following Name That Tune.

Fox network president Michael Thorn said there have been talks to revive The Weakest Link “since maybe last summer,” focusing “first to get Jane Lynch back on the network.”

The Glee alum will form part of “a celebrity game night on Monday night,” said Thorn, stating that when The Weakest Link “became available, it just felt like a signature piece of IP and something that could really blend in with our game shows.”

Fear Factor will come back later during the midseason with a major change—this time the contestants won’t just face their fears on camera, they’ll also be roommates.

“The chance to reinvent it with a reality element, honestly, it was a no-brainer. So it’s coincidental but exciting,” said Thorn.

Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade said the show will feature elements of the original, but “the reinvention piece is critical here.”

“I think the producer’s come up with a really interesting take on it, and it’s not going to feel like the show from 20 years ago,” the executive continued.

Fox is also bringing back one of its animated series from a previous era, American Dad! The Seth MacFarlane show has spent over a decade on TBS, but will return to its roots during the 2026 midseason.
