American Idol 2025 is down to its Top 7 contenders for the title, and tonight, the competition continues with “Disney Night,” during which each artist will sing a song from the Disney songbook and another dedicated to a special woman in their life for Mother’s Day.

Helping them prepare was special guest Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was nominated for two original song Oscars for Disney movies: “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto and “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana, so he was the perfect choice for the task.

While judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan no longer have a say in who progresses in the singing competition, they are on hand to critique the singers and help guide America in deciding who is worthy of going through.

DISNEY SONGBOOK

GABBY SAMONE

Song: “How Far Will I Go” from Moana

Lionel said: “I got to tell you, I don’t know whether I’m spoiled. You’ve got that show-stopping [ability], I know it’s coming, and sure enough, the crescendo of this shines a light on all of this.”

JAMAL ROBERTS

Song: “Go the Distance” from Hercules

Carrie said: “On your journey with us, with every theme we throw at you, with every song you tackle, you always find a way to put yourself in it. You make it your own. You make it fit you. Singing any kind of genre that you’re not used to singing could be difficult for anybody but you make it look easy.  You make it fit you.”

JOHN FOSTER

Song: “Almost There” from The Princess and the Frog

Lionel said: “Who do you think you are? I mean that was amazing. The crowd said it all for me.”

Luke said: “That was one of my favorite performances I saw you do. It felt like you are 16. It was innocent and pure. Disney Night is forcing you to do songs you’re not used to.”

THUNDERSTORM ARTIS

Song: “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas

Lionel said: “All I am going to say is you are an amazing storyteller. I love everywhere you tell these songs.”

Lionel said: “That is the way you bring out the surprise secret weapon right in the middle, the Jew’s harp. Simplicity is king in this case. I loved the way you pulled it out.”

THUNDERSTORM ARTIS (Wife Faith)

Song: “Out of the Blue” by Thunderstorm Artis

Lionel said: “You are about to turn your thunderstorm into a tornado. It is clear to me that if you are writing those lyrics and those melodies, you have a career. Because in this business, if you are the artist that put those two together, the sky is the limit for you.”
