Maren Morris loves a respectful fan.
In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, the “My Church” singer, 35, opened up about the last time she was recognized in public.
“I was on a first date a couple months ago in L.A. This fan came up to me and was so lovely — just wanted to say hello and how much my music meant to them; they didn’t even ask for a photo. I was just bowled over,” Morris recalls. “They were like, ‘I don’t want to bother you but love your music’ — just in and out. It was the most pure interaction. I loved that they were so respectful.”
The Grammy winner will soon spend plenty of time with her fans when she hits the road for her Dreamsicle World Tour, in support of her latest studio album, Dreamsicle, which dropped Friday, May 9.
Here, the “Bed No Breakfast” singer — who is mom to son Hayes, 5, with ex-husband Ryan Hurd — looks back on more of her “lasts.”
Last tattoo I got
I was in Australia recently, and I got one from an amazing artist, Lauren Winzer, who’s tattooed Teddy Swims and Post Malone. She gave me a tattoo of a martini with two olives. That’s my big-girl cocktail now.
Last song stuck in my head
“Cyclone,” because I keep seeing videos of T-Pain twirling around onstage at Coachella.
Last time I had mom-brain
Every day. I have pretty good recall for, like, movies and years they came out, but I have to have a teleprompter onstage at shows because I might forget all my lyrics if I don’t. It’s a security point. I could do it, but I would be having an anxiety attack the whole time.
Last time my son made me laugh
Literally 30 minutes ago on FaceTime. I was telling [Hayes] I was about to go do an interview, and he goes, “Huh, sounds boring.” I should clarify, not this interview; I’m at a daytime TV thing right now. But 5-year-olds — don’t ask them anything that you don’t want a real answer to!
