Al Roker and Deborah Roberts shared the planning timeline for their daughter Leila Roker’s wedding
The couple also teased what they were looking forward to when it came to wedding planning and the nuptials themselves

Al Roker and Deborah Roberts couldn’t be happier for their daughter Leila Roker’s engagement.
In fact, the couple couldn’t help gushing about the 26-year-old and her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Sylvain Gricourt while attending the NYC Ballet Gala on Thursday, May 8. They even shared what they are most excited about when it comes to the wedding planning process and the big day.
“I’m excited to go dress shopping with her, of course,” Roberts tells PEOPLE on Thursday, May 8, adding that she was excited to see her daughter “so happy.”
“I agree,” Al says.

When asked if he was planning to walk her down the aisle, the longtime NBC journalist jokingly replies, “That’s the plan. I think so. One never knows.”
When will the wedding take place?
“We are working on a date, but it’ll be in 2026,” Roberts teases. “We’re still planning. We’re getting all the details together, so stay tuned.”

Leila, a freelance journalist, announced her engagement on Instagram in March, alongside a carousel of photos of herself with her love during the engagement. Gricourt popped the question in Venice, Italy with a pear-shaped diamond engagement ring.
“8 years ago, I moved to Paris 🇫🇷, 7 years ago I met my person and best friend 💖, and 2 days ago, that person took me on the most amazing surprise trip to Venice 🇮🇹 to ask me to spend the rest of our lives together 💍 💕💕,” the 26-year-old captioned the post.
“Just two days ago I put a ring on her finger, and that’s the best thing I did in the last 33 years 💍❤️,” Gricourt captioned his own Instagram post.
He added:” @leilaroker qu’est-ce que tu dis de passer les 33 prochaines ensemble, et toutes celles d’après?” — which translates in English to: What do you say about spending the next 33 together, and all the ones after that?
At the time Roberts celebrated in a comment on her daughter’s post, writing, “We could not be happier and more joyful!!!! Welcome to the family Sylvain! Now let’s plan a wedding!”
Al — who in addition to Leila and her brother Nick, 22, is also dad to daughter Courtney, 37, whom he shared with his late ex-wife Alice Bell — also announced the news on Instagram, sharing several of the same photos.
“Well, it is now official. @gricourt.thegreat has proposed to my little girl, @leilaroker in the romantic city of Venice. We could not be happier, and look forward to planning for these two wonderful young folks coming together.”
