  • Olivia Morris and Bradley Blizzard, who tied the knot on May 3, are both Dairy Queen fans

  • When they began planning their wedding, Olivia asked DQ to sponsor a Blizzard bar

  • The chain responded with a DQ-themed engagement shoot, merch and other surprises

When a Texas couple became “Mr. and Mrs. Blizzard,” it was only fitting to incorporate Dairy Queen’s similarly titled frozen treat.

Olivia Morris met Bradley Blizzard on the Fourth of July in 2021, and initially thought he was joking about his last name.

“I’ve never heard that name other than Dairy Queen Blizzards or a blizzard snowstorm,” she tells PEOPLE. “I did not believe it at first.”

However, as the pair continued to talk, she found herself thinking more of the dessert, which she’d get with her dad when she was growing up in Illinois.

The popular soft-serve item was also a childhood favorite for Bradley and his siblings, who’d make trips to DQ with their mom in Florida.

“She used to take all of us to Dairy Queen and try to get us free Blizzards, and it did work from time to time,” he tells PEOPLE. “So needless to say, we’ve been fans of Dairy Queen forever.”

After Bradley proposed to Olivia two years ago, they began looking at wedding vendors and the bride-to-be got the idea that a Blizzard bar at the wedding “would be really cool.”

“Her family members were making jokes about having Blizzards at the wedding,” Bradley adds.

In September 2023, Olivia took to TikTok to make a special request from the fast-food chain.

“I need Dairy Queen to see this video and sponsor a Dairy Queen Blizzard bar, because it just makes sense,” the future Mrs. Blizzard said in the video. “What a fun last name, so Dairy Queen, help a girl out please.”

She ended up getting a response from the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council, whose message said, “We have something in mind.”

What followed was an engagement shoot at a DQ restaurant in Frisco, Texas. The company also supplied playful merch for their bachelor and bachelorette parties (Bradley’s was in Flagstaff, Ariz., and Olivia’s was in Scottsdale), gift cards and even a custom “Mrs. Blizzard” jacket.

Naturally, DQ was part of the festivities when the couple tied the knot in Collinsville, Texas, on Saturday, May 3.

“Right as the party started getting going, we see the doors swing open and one of the local franchise Dairy Queen owners was there holding a big, huge Blizzard Dairy Queen cooler that was personalized just for us, as well as Dairy Queen Blizzards for the bridal party and groom’s party,” Bradley recalls.

He says their guests “loved” the surprise.

“We could tell that they had a feeling that something Dairy Queen was going to happen just after the photo shoot and some of the news media,” he says. “So I think a lot of our guests were expecting Dairy Queen to make some kind of appearance at the wedding. But they definitely didn’t expect, right in the middle of the party, all the goodies that were handed out.”

“It was just more than I could have even imagined,” Olivia adds.
