What’s a better way to spend Mother’s Day weekend than to binge a new show or movie either with your mom, your kid (only not all of these, please) or just by yourself?
This weekend, May 10-11, we’ve got you covered with a wide array of options, from a sweet movie perfect for the holiday that tells the true story of a man mourning the loss of his mother to … truthfully, a lot of true crime.
We know that may not be the cheeriest, but if you and your loved ones have a shared passion for the psychopathy and horror behind the nation’s worst crimes, well then we have you covered! One even features three moms who worked together to look for their missing children.
And there’s more! Here’s a list of the eight best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Nonnas
We’re starting off sweet (or juicy, if we’re going with the tomato motif here) with Netflix’s Nonnas, a movie starring Vince Vaughn as Joe Scaravella, a man mourning the loss of his mother.
Inspired by her recipes, he decides to open an Italian restaurant in her honor with the help of four real “nonnas,” or grandmothers. But their strong personalities prove to be more than he bargained for …

Forever
Based on Judy Blume’s novel of the same name, Forever is set in Los Angeles and follows two teenagers, Keisha and Justin, as they fall in love for the first time.
The couple face challenges that are familiar to many high school students (as is the beauty of Blume’s work) like disapproving parents, college applications and mounting peer pressure. So will they stay together? You’ll have to watch the 8-episode show to find out.

The Bakersfield 3: A Tale of Murder and Motherhood
On a more serious note, the first up of a number of true crimes this weekend is ID’s The Bakersfield 3: A Tale of Murder and Motherhood. After three friends went missing in Bakersfield, Calif., in 2018, their mothers banded together to help with the investigation, but were unprepared for some of the discoveries they made.
“When your kid is missing, it doesn’t come with a handbook on what to do,” one of the moms says in the documentary’s trailer.
Watch The Bakersfield 3: A Tale of Murder and Motherhood on Investigation Discovery or stream it on Max on Sunday, May 11.
The Playboy Murders season 3
Now in its third season, The Playboy Murders tells the stories of killings that intersected with the Playboy brand and involved some of the Bunnies.
The show is executive produced by Holly Madison, a former Playboy model who dated the infamous Hugh Hefner and lived in his mansion.

A Deadly American Marriage
And to round out true crime picks of the week, Netflix is peeling back the curtain on another frightening murder — but this time, it begs the question: who’s the real victim?
Jason Corbett and his children moved to North Carolina from Ireland to build a new life with Corbett’s wife, Molly Martens, after his first wife died. However, in August 2015, Corbett was found dead, beaten by a baseball bat.
Martens and her father claimed they killed him in an act of self-defense, while others raised concerns that Corbett was the true victim — and his death was murder.

Poker Face season 2
Back to wholesome family fun! Natasha Lyonne is reprising her role as Charlie, a no-nonsense crime-solver who has a distinct ability to know when someone is telling a lie.
She puts her skills to good use as she travels the country in her Plymouth Barracuda and faces the likes of guest stars such as Cynthia Erivo, John Mulaney and Katie Holmes to bring the right people to justice.

Molly Mae: Behind It All part 2
If you loved part 1 of the docuseries that gave fans a look into Love Island alum Molly Mae’s life, then you’ll adore part 2 as well, as the influencer continues to share the personal aspects of her journey.
From her on-and-off relationship with Tommy Fury to her plans to build her brand, nothing is off the table for Mae.

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 premiere
Did you think just because Criminal Minds ended in 2020 after 15 seasons it would be gone forever? Well, you would be mistaken as clamoring fans inspired the series’ return in its new iteration (because it has evolved, duh), Criminal Minds: Evolution, in 2022.
Now, your favorite detectives are headed into their third season (or 18th season, depending on who you ask!) — and a very special star is set to make his big return.
