The G.O.A.T.’s got advice for Shedeur Sanders.
In a guest spot on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast on Wednesday, May 6, Tom Brady shared that he reached out to the former Colorado quarterback mid-NFL Draft as Sanders was skipped over on the first and second days.
“I actually texted Shedeur because I know him very well,” Brady, 47, said. “And I said, ‘Dude, whatever happens, wherever you go, that’s your first day.’ “
He added about the second day — when Sanders is actually with a team — “matters more than the draft.“
“I was 199. So who can speak on it better than me?,” he said. “Use it as motivation, you’re going to get your chances and go take advantage of it.”
However, the Fox Sports lead NFL analyst — who is also a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders — couldn’t say why Sanders shockingly slid. The son of Deion Sanders was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns as the 144th overall pick in the fifth round.

“It’s a good question, I wasn’t a part of any evaluation process,” Brady said, before briefly criticizing those in the media who use “crazy voices to get heard” and had their own opinions.

Instead, Brady emphasized that prospective roster players should utilize their “chances,” since they have been given an opportunity.
Brady, famously, wasn’t drafted until the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft.
“It was one of the most important things that happened in my career,” he said. “There’s nothing wrong with getting picked No. 199. You probably wont get as many chances as the guy who gets picked No. 1 or No. 19 or No. 39. When you’re 199, you don’t have a ton of chances, but you will get a chance.”

And what you do with the opportunity — even if a player goes undrafted — is everything, he said.
“I was around some of the best players who were undrafted free agents,” Brady said. “They were Rodney Harrison. Rodney Harrison wasn’t a high pick. Julian Edelman wasn’t a high pick. Wes Welker wasn’t a high pick. Danny Amendola. All those guys were phenomenal players.”
