  • Morgan Wallen did not attend the 2025 ACM Awards on Thursday, May 8, despite being nominated for seven awards, including Entertainer of the Year

  • The “Last Night” singer shared a photo of himself hanging out with Tom Brady on Instagram as the show kicked off

  • Wallen’s latest no-show follows a string of recent award show absences, including at the 2025 Grammy Awards in February and 2024 CMAs last November

Morgan Wallen was noticeably absent at the 2025 ACM Awards.

The “Last Night” singer, 31, did not attend the May 8 award show, despite receiving several nominations, including the top Entertainer of the Year prize, PEOPLE can confirm; a reason for his absence was not given.

The country star did, however, post a photo of himself hanging out with Tom Brady just before the show kicked off. On Instagram Stories, Wallen shared a snap of himself and the retired NFL star, 47, tossing a football on a golf court, and wrote, “Had a little mustard on it.”

At the ACM Awards — which were held at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas — Wallen was up for seven total awards, including Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist-Songwriter of the Year and Music Event of the Year.

The star’s latest award-show absence comes after he has skipped out on several other recent ceremonies, despite receiving multiple nominations at each.

In February, the country star did not attend the 2025 Grammy Awards, where he was a first-time nominee with two nominations. Wallen was up for both Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Country Song for “I Had Some Help,” his collaboration with Post Malone, but lost out in both categories.

Late last year, Wallen missed another major award show appearance, the 2024 CMA Awards, despite being nominated for Entertainer of the Year, which he ultimately won. (He attended the show the previous year, in 2023.)

After the “Cowgirls” musician won Entertainer of the Year at the CMAs on Nov. 20, presenter Jeff Bridges accepted the win in his absence. “Morgan couldn’t make it tonight, so I’m going to accept this award on his behalf,” Bridges told the crowd. “Alright, let’s hear it for Morgan!”

It was not clear why Wallen was absent and, at the time, a rep for Wallen did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The “Whiskey Glasses” singer was also the most-nominated artist at the 2024 CMAs, receiving nods for entertainer, single of the year, song of the year, male vocalist of the year, music video of the year and musical event of the year.

Wallen’s latest project, I’m the Problem, will drop May 16.

The star unveiled the tracklist and collaborators for the album in April, revealing that Post Malone, Eric Church, ERNEST, HARDY and Tate McRae will all be featured on the project. “I Ain’t Coming Back” featuring Malone, 29, was released April 18.

A month after Wallen’s new album comes out, the star is slated to embark on a stadium tour. The country star will kick off the I’m The Problem tour on June 20 in Houston, stopping in Seattle, Cleveland, Toronto, Miami Gardens and other cities in North America. He will be joined on the tour by Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Koe Wetzel, Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson.

In April of 2024, Wallen was arrested on felony charges after throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s on Broadway, Eric Church’s downtown Nashville bar. In December, Wallen pleaded conditionally guilty due to judicial diversion, and a Nashville judge sentenced him to one week of incarceration, to be served at a DUI education center, as well as two years’ probation: one year for each of his misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment.
