Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell gave remarks Wednesday afternoon after the latest announcement on interest rates, as the U.S. faces economic uncertainty sparked by President Trump’s trade agenda.
The Fed’s interest rate committee opted to keep rates where they are despite criticism from Trump and price pressures mounting from his latest sweeping tariffs.
The Fed chair’s relationship has been in the spotlight as markets have swung wildly on news of Trump’s tariff decisions. Trump has hurled criticism and insults at Powell in recent weeks, but most recently he said has no intention of ousting him.
The news conference was scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
