Fresh off the Met Gala, Miley Cyrus isn’t ending her fashion streak any time soon.
Last night in New York City, the singer-songwriter co-hosted an intimate listening party with Spotify, where a few lucky fans got an early listen of her forthcoming album, Something Beautiful (out May 30), and a glimpse of its coinciding short film.
With this new release, the Grammy winner is really leaning into the visuals, and that was apparent from the fact that she wore four different designer looks to her bash.
The evening started with a particularly grungy touch that seemed like Cyrus was harkening back to her Plastic Hearts days. Courtesy of McQueen, Cyrus’s ensemble consisted of a dark brown motorcycle jacket and matching belted mini skirt, which were both brushed with bronzy undertones that gave them a vintage touch.
Underneath the jacket, Cyrus sported a white tank top with a McQueen logo tag in the middle, and she completed the fit with a set of super-pointy black boots and matching shades. (If you hadn’t noticed, sunglasses have been a particularly strong motif of this latest Cyrus era.)
Once inside the venue, the “Flowers” singer gave fans three more looks to feast upon, the first of which was a sculptural dotted jacket from Mugler, pulled straight from the brand’s Spring 2025 collection.
The coat was covered in tiny silver sequins and it fastened in the front with a row of hook-and-eye closures. Cyrus treated the hourglass-shaped outerwear like a minidress and she paired it with a set of matching studded platform mules and tights. Oh, and for this red-carpet look, the sunglasses stayed on.
Then, Cyrus pulled out another flashy piece when she changed into a snake-print dress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin. This design featured almost impossibly-thin shoulder straps, which were concealed under Cyrus’s wavy locks, and the bust was held together with laces that wove throughout the heart-shaped neckline, too.
Finally, Cyrus ended the evening in a black-tie ensemble with a bit of a sultry spin. The two-tone look was designed by Haider Ackermann at Tom Ford, and it was like a less buttoned-up version of your standard tux.
For starters, instead of a closed shirt underneath, Cyrus sported a high-neck top that was left mostly unbuttoned for a split-hem effect. This, along with her cropped tuxedo jacket—which was akin to a bolero—completely bared her midriff, which she then cinched with a skinny black belt.
Finally, the superstar completed the look with a set of slacks and pointy heels, and she added some rockstar details thanks to her black leather gloves and oversize visor sunglasses.
Back in December, when Cyrus covered the December/January issue of Harper’s Bazaar, her producer, Shawn Everett, noted that fashion would be a central focus of the Something Beautiful era. On recording the songs, he said, “[She’d] want it to feel like this specific runway show or something… I love when she talks like that. For me, it opens up a whole world.” He also noted that one of their touchstones was Thierry Mugler’s groundbreaking 1995 couture show (which Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach, recently pulled from while promoting Dune 2).
Meanwhile, Cyrus herself noted that the new release is “hypnotizing and glamorous.” She said, “It’s a concept album that’s an attempt to medicate somewhat of a sick culture through music.” Already, the fashion alone is healing us.
