Celebrities turned heads at the Met Gala on Monday, May 5th, serving up more jaw-dropping looks than we could count. Zendaya easily stole the show as best dressed, but she wasn’t the only one making waves. Heidi Klum also wowed in a simple but chic, sleak, custom strapless black gown by Vetements. However, her dazzling $10 million accessory truly stole the spotlight.
In a red carpet interview with Complex, Heidi looked stunning and, with her usual charm, happily showed off her pricey accessory: “It’s a $10 million stone from Lorraine Schwartz—and look, it’s just on a fishing wire!”

The Project Runway host and supermodel admitted she was a little nervous about wearing such an expensive bauble, “I keep on touching it, ‘Is it still there?’ What am I going to do if it’s not there?” she added. “I feel like if it’s on the floor, people probably think it’s not real.”
Commenters had a lot to say about Complex’s video and had mixed reactions about the rock Heidi flaunted. Most agreed she looked stunning, and @ccriverac shared, “The necklace was the outfit!”

@raymondsaintcharles wasn’t impressed: “Necklace stolen from Africa to a Met Gala theme about black history.” @maxsmuseum added, “Imagine wearing a blood diamond to an event about African excellence.”
@Alison Daring agreed, “Tone def and not on theme. This ain’t it.” Ouch! Met Gala fashion is all about being over-the-top and outrageous, and Heidi’s pricey accessory definitely made an impression, whether you loved it or hated it.
Heidi also shared a behind-the-scenes “get ready with me”–style video on Instagram. Of course, she looked just as gorgeous in the before shots as she did in the final look.
