Just days after her husband, Prince Harry, publicly opened up about his desire to reconcile with his father, King Charles, Meghan Markle addressed the struggles of staying positive amid “painful” times.
On the latest episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, the Duchess of Sussex spoke to Hannah Mendoza, the co-founder of coffee company Clevr Brands, about the importance of having supportive female peers when challenges arise.
“The safety of stream of consciousness with someone who understands it…that is part of that sisterhood and that understanding of, ‘OK, every day is not going to be the same. Some days are going to be harder to show up as your best and shiniest self,'” Markle said.
“Maybe on that day, something really painful happened in your real life, but for your team, that is not how you show up. You can’t,” she continued.

Later in the discussion, Markle touched on the positive side of being a founder, celebrating her lifestyle brand As Ever’s “big milestones,” such as when the company’s first round of products sold out immediately.
“That told me that customers — people — believed in me and this vision. That’s all you really want as a founder,” she said.
On Friday, May 2, U.K. judges dismissed Prince Harry’s appeal involving security for his family.
The Duke of Sussex spoke out about his fractured relationship with his family following the decision in an interview with the BBC, revealing that King Charles “won’t speak to [him] because of this security stuff.”
“I would love reconciliation with my family,” Harry said. “There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious.”
