Amazon’s most popular list this week includes a much-anticipated sequel to a 2018 sleeper hit and a 2024 movie that’s taken on new resonance due to Pope Francis’ death.
Amazon includes shows on its popular list, so there are several series that span the action, fantasy and drama genres. There’s a little something for everyone on the 10 most popular movies and shows on Amazon Prime Video list, and that’s probably why they’re on it in the first place.

1. ‘Another Simple Favor’ (2025)
Shake those gin martinis and get out your ridiculously oversized hats because Another Simple Favor is finally streaming on Amazon. It’s no surprise that the movie is already popular on the streamer, as it delivers the same escapist thrills and “WTF” moments as the original.
Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) is out of jail and eager to mend her fractured friendship with Stephanie Somers (Anna Kendrick). She invites her ex-BFF to her wedding in sunny Capri, but is Emily sincere in wanting to reconcile with Stephanie, or is she merely plotting her revenge on the woman who put her in jail and ruined her life?
2. ‘Conclave’ (2024)
The recent death of Pope Francis has sparked a surge of interest in Conclave, a recent Oscar-winning film that depicts what happens after a pope dies and the College of Cardinals is forced to select a new leader. Overseeing this election is Cardinal Thomas Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes), who knows far more secrets than he likes.
Will Lawrence’s knowledge help elect an untested candidate? Or will his discretion pave the way for a leader whose views differ from his own?
3. ‘The Accountant’ (2016)
The Accountant 2 is now out in theaters, which may explain why the original is at the top of Amazon’s most popular movie list. Ben Affleck stars as Christian Wolff, a seemingly mild-mannered accountant who just so happens to be a dangerous assassin.
When he discovers a client has been cooking his company’s books to steal some money, Christian soon finds himself on the run from various hitmen trying to kill him. Can Christian find a way out of this mess without losing his lucrative accounting business — or his life?
4. ‘ Reacher’ (2022-Present)
You can’t keep a good guy down. That’s never been more true with Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson), whose towering presence has intimated and delighted fans for three straight seasons.
In Reacher, Lee Child’s popular action hero has been battling bad guys with brawn and firearms. The recipe is simple, but it works — Reacher is one of streaming’s most popular shows right now.
5. ‘Étoile’ (2025)
Bunheads fans, rejoice! Creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino are back in the world of ballet, only this time their scope is a little bigger and the drama is a little spicier.
With their ballet companies on the cusp of financial ruin, New York artistic director Jack McMillian (Luke Kirby) and Paris artistic director Genevieve Lavigne (Charlotte Gainsbourg) decide to swap their most popular ballet dancers in a last-ditch attempt to save their schools — and their jobs.
6. ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ (2022-2025)
All summers must end, even for teenage girls caught in hopelessly convoluted love triangles. Amazon’s popular YA series The Summer I Turned Pretty recently announced its forthcoming third season will be its last, so fans are catching up with the first two in time to give the series a proper goodbye.
Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) is a typical teenage girl who spends her summers by the beach, contemplating life. Complications ensue when she falls for two childhood friends, Jeremiah and Conrad (Gavin Casalegno and Christopher Briney), who also happen to be brothers. Can the three teens remain friends while navigating the complicated affairs of the heart?
7. ‘Gladiator II’ (2024)
Twenty-four years after the original movie won Oscars and inspired some men to wear togas and grunt, Gladiator II stormed into theaters and mostly retold the same story as the original. Lucius Aurelius (Paul Mescal) is seeking vengeance after his wife is murdered, and the only way he’ll find it is by fighting as a gladiator in Rome.
Little does he know he’s part of a bigger plot involving his estranged mother, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), and a mysterious arms dealer, Macrinus (Denzel Washington), to usurp the two reigning emperors and rule Rome.
8. ‘Twisters’ (2024)
Twisters is the rare “requel” that’s arguably better than the original, 1996’s Twister. Both movies involved an unlikely couple chasing after the titular windstorms to overcome some unsettled personal trauma.
But Twisters trumps its predecessor by having two charismatic lead actors — Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones — generating some genuine chemistry amid the storm wreckage, and a director, Lee Isaac Chung, who is just as concerned with his characters as he is with his CGI natural disasters.
9. ‘G20’ (2025)
Who doesn’t want to see Viola Davis kick some ass and take some names? Davis stars as a U.S. president who gets caught in a hostage situation at a G20 summit.
With her politician peers and family threatened, she takes matters into her own hands and shows these terrorists what happens when you anger the leader of the free world.
10. ‘The Wheel of Time’ (2021-Present)
Amazon’s other high-profile fantasy is quietly killing it in the ratings, so it’s no surprise it remains one of Amazon Prime Video’s most popular titles. This adaptation of Robert Jordan’s beloved fantasy series stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, a powerful sorceress who seeks to find the Dragon Reborn, who can either save her world or destroy it.
The Wheel of Time released a third season in March, which adapts the fourth and fifth books, The Shadow Rising and The Fires of Heaven, in the series.
