Can we hit the reverse on the Met Gala? Because the first Monday in May was missing one key player. Ice Spice skipped the 2025 Met Gala, which means we were robbed of seeing her take on the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme! Call the fashion police, because this is one oversight that cannot be forgiven.
It’s unclear whether or not Ice Spice was invited to the Met—she hasn’t attended since 2023—but I’m still salty about her absence. Regardless, the rapper probably had better things to do anyway. Her new campaign with Kate Spade launched last week. And she recently hard launched a relationship with Sauce Gardner of the New York Jets, sharing a pic of the two hugging. Granted, the sweet photo was hidden in a larger photo dump, but it was noted nonetheless!
Ice Spice spoke to Billboard back in the fall about managing her growing fame, saying “When I first had met this artist, they had asked me, ‘Do you wanna be bigger than your music or do you want your music to be bigger than you?’ I had no clue what they were talking about. I was like, ‘Both, bro, what are you talking about?’ They’re just like, ‘Nah, you gotta pick one.’ We was just in the studio chatting, because people love to talk about stuff like this.”
She added, “But nah, I think it always just helps. I think the bigger you are, the more reach you have and the bigger the platform, I don’t see how it could not help. I feel like I’d only want it to be this way.”
