The Met Gala red carpet doesn’t have a winner, but that won’t stop us — and you — from choosing one. To crown the best-dressed guest, vote in our poll below (the person who gets the most votes gets … nothing but our utmost respect). We narrowed down the voting field to 15 from hundreds of well-tailored guests. How did we make this list? It’s based on animated Slack debates among coworkers, ecstatic Yahoo comments, poll results, surging article traffic and social media enthusiasm.
Votes can be changed (this is just for fun, after all) so take your time looking at the accessories, styling, tailoring and more of what makes the whole fashion package worthy of the top title. Teyana Taylor
If anybody’s subscribing to the idea of saving the best for last, it isn’t Teyana Taylor. She was one of the first to arrive on the red carpet and could have shut it down herself. The entertainer wore a pinstripe suit with a crimson cape.
Diana Ross
If outfit repeating were an Olympic sport, Diana Ross would be winning gold. The 81-year-old went shopping in her own closet for the 2025 gala, wearing an outfit styled for her 80th birthday by Ugo Mozie. Does that dock her any points? Not in my book.
Sydney Sweeney
If Sydney Sweeney’s look screams old Hollywood glam to you, that’s the point. The custom Miu Miu sequin gown was an homage to actress Kim Novak, whom Sweeney is set to portray in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut. And it’s giving body-ody-ody in the best way, if I do say so myself.
Zendaya
I’d be lying if I said Zendaya wasn’t on my personal “best dressed” list before I even saw her look. But, of course, she didn’t disappoint. The crisp cream-colored tuxedo is tailored to perfection and screams, “I understood the assignment.” Not to mention it might be the debut of her own bridal era!
Savannah James
Lebron James is 0 for 2 this week, being beat not only by the Minnesota Timberwolves but also his fashionable wife Savannah. The NBA star was a no-show at the Met Gala because of an injury, but Savannah brought enough tailored glam to the carpet for the both of them in a burgundy pinstripe gown. Slam dunk!
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus’s Alaïa look was certainly made for her and fit to perfection. The singer told Vogue correspondent La La Anthony that it felt like “armor.” And she definitely fit the theme of Superfine with her abs on display.
Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter brought Polly Pocket-core to the gala with a tailored twist — and somehow it worked. The monochromatic look was a vision brought to life by Pharrell and Louis Vuitton. He was also behind the singer’s decision to go pantless. “He was like, ‘You’re quite short, so no pants for you.’ So here we are,” Carpenter told Vogue on the carpet.
Doechii
Doechii made her debut at the Met Gala looking like a vet. The rapper rocked head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, including the brand’s emblem on her cheek. What it is? A slay.
Tracee Ellis Ross
Tracee Ellis Ross told Vogue correspondent La La Anthony that she’s “naturally a dandy” during a red carpet interview. “I don’t live by anyone else’s definition of me.” Her outfit’s exaggerated silhouette, made by Marc Jacobs, certainly helped her stand out. We love a woman who has fun with a theme!
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington’s simply stunning in a look that isn’t as simple as it seems. It’s all in the details with the plunging neckline, the open back, the sheer skirt and fishnet gloves. The chic hat is just the cherry on top.
Demi Moore
Demi Moore is knot to be missed. Her Thom Browne gown, made to look like a tie, took 1,400,000 beads and 7,600 hours to achieve the effect. It was well worth the effort.
Alicia Keys
Don’t sleep on Alicia Keys’s look — although she may be able to very literally. The duvet-looking shawl was somehow the perfect accessory to her fitted pinstripe suit by Moncler. She even makes a beaded headpiece look effortless.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman took tailoring to a new level when she debuted a pixie cut on the red carpet. Did the ‘do outshine her Balenciaga dress? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
Quinta Brunson
Quinta Brunson looked dapper and dandy in this black-and-white pinstripe ensemble. The corset bodice stole the show. No notes from me for the Abbott Elementary actress.
Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer can do no wrong in my book and this Vera Wang look is no exception. Her tailored top featured a long train and was paired with black pants underneath, in an effort to channel both her masculine and feminine energies, she told Vogue.
Kylie Jenner
There were layers to Kylie Jenner’s look. She paired a conventional herringbone pattern with an unconventional silhouette featuring a high-leg slit and silk wrap, which was taken off to reveal a halter neckline.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian defended her title as the most daring of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters when she arrived in a two-piece leather outfit. The hat! The diamonds! The pearls! It was a full serve.
Rihanna
There’s no shortage of shock value when it comes to Rihanna. As if her Marc Jacobs ensemble didn’t leave my jaw on the floor, the reveal that she’s expecting baby No. 3 sure did. Talk about a look that’s worth the wait!
