Sadie Sink has made her Met Gala debut!
On Monday, May 5, the Stranger Things actress, 23, made her first-ever appearance at the 2025 Met Gala dressed in a black satin dress with a plunging neckline and dramatic train worn over a floral lace wrap. For accessories, Sink topped off her up-do with a hairband and wore statement pearl earrings.
Sink, who is currently starring in John Proctor Is the Villain, is one of many stars currently on Broadway who will walk the Met’s famous stairs. Other actors taking a break from their roles on the Great White Way to attend Monday’s event include Cole Escola, Nicole Scherzinger, Adrienne Warren and Nick Jonas.

Last October, Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would co-chair this year’s Met Gala, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. This year’s event also has a star-studded host committee, which includes Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese and Usher.

Sadie Sink attends the 2025 Met Gala
Sink’s first-ever Met Gala appearances comes just days after she marked another major entertainment first — she received her first Tony Award nomination for her role in John Proctor Is the Villain, which tells the story of a group of modern-day high school girls as they study The Crucible.
After her nomination for best performance by an actress in a leading role in a play was announced on Friday, May 2, the actress took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the award, beginning her heartfelt caption with a simple: “Woah.”
“Thank you to the Wing and the League for this honor,” she wrote, alongside a photo of herself as a kid in her first-ever play. “Thank you for embracing and recognizing this show, and for giving me the biggest ‘pinch me’ moment of my life. I’m so proud of our JPITV team, and proud to be nominated alongside such incredible talent. This means more than I can even fathom 🖤.”
“This photo is from my first ever play btw … angsty as ever,” she jokingly finished the caption.

The Stranger Things star has had a handful of other stylish moments this year ahead of the Met Gala. Last month, Sink also went across the street on Broadway to catch a preview performance of Stranger Things: The First Shadow, during which she wore a chic tan coat and tucked her iconic red hair behind her ears.
For the premiere of her Broadway show in March, she wore a floor-length black corseted dress with a simple heart necklace, rocking a style in line with the adolescent themes of the play.
Speaking to PEOPLE before the show, she explained what drew her to John Proctor Is the Villain.
“Kimberly’s writing is so brilliant and truly captures teenagers and such an authentic light and deals with some uncomfortable topics, but in such a digestible, honest way,” Sink explained. “So I’m incredibly more proud of our team and the message that this show has.”
