Pregnancy announcements are kind of Rihanna’s thing. From a surprise photoshoot in Harlem to a baby bump reveal at the Super Bowl Halftime show, the superstar has a tendency to shut down the Internet whenever she decides to announce her happy news to the world. Well, get ready Internet, because she’s doing it yet again.
This time, Rihanna has decided to confirm her third pregnancy at fashion’s biggest night. After teasing the announcement earlier in the day, the fashion and beauty mogul all but confirmed the news with her look for the 2025 Met Gala—which her longtime partner, A$AP Rocky, is co-chairing. Opting for a dress that hugged her growing baby bump, Rihanna glowed in its corseted bodice and matching cropped tuxedo jacket. Meanwhile, the floor-grazing skirt was designed to look like a suit jacket, with its sleeves tied to the back of her waist. Rihanna finished off the look with a large floppy hat, a maroon polka-dot tie, and sharp pointed-toe pumps.
Rocky confirmed the happy news in an interview with the Associated Press tonight. “It feels amazing,” he said of Rihanna’s pregnancy. “It’s time that we show the people what we was cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know.”
Rihanna and Rocky, who have been romantically linked since 2020, currently share two sons: two-year-old RZA and one-year-old Riot.
Speaking for Harper’s Bazaar’s March 2025 cover story, Rihanna opened up about her evolving relationship with fashion following the birth of her kids.
“I feel like getting dressed is a fight on its own [now],” the mogul said. “Everything is so … logical. What makes sense? What’s easy? What’s fast? I try not to overthink all that stuff, but you’re leaving the house. It kind of stops you from going out. How much energy do I have to put into getting ready? Doing my makeup, doing my hair, and then going to the closet and figuring out which three things in this entire room make sense together? You go through a fog. And fashion is so much fun, and I miss the fun.”
She revealed that she is “starting to have fun again” with her style. “Now I’m starting to just remember what I loved about it: the juxtaposition, putting the things together that don’t make sense,” she added. “My fashion has always been driven by my mood, and my mood was on mom mode for a minute.”
The dress code for this year’s Met Gala is “Tailored for You,” which is derived from the Costume Institute’s exhibition theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The Institute developed the theme by taking inspiration from Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, a 2009 book by Barnard College professor Monica L. Miller.
