Paul Feig Says ‘Outrage’ Against Blake Lively and ‘Another Simple Favor’ Drama Is ‘Boring’: ‘You Don’t Know What You’re Talking About’

While many stars of “Another Simple Favor” have avoided speaking out about Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni following their ongoing legal feud and trial, director Paul Feig is showing his support for “It Ends With Us” star Lively.

Commenting on rumors that Anna Kendrick and Lively feuded on the set of “Another Simple Favor,” Feig told Esquire: “Blake is an amazing collaborator, so when I read people’s misconceptions about how movies are made, it’s just frustrating for me.”

He added: “When the gang on the internet get [up in arms] about something, it’s just like, guys, you don’t know what you’re talking about. I love working with Blake — she’s just the best.”

Feig’s support comes after months of public interest in Lively and Baldoni’s case. In December, Lively filed a letter with the California Civil Rights Department, claiming that Baldoni sexually harassed her while filming “It Ends With Us,” based on the Colleen Hoover novel. In that letter, Lively also accused Baldoni of creating a smear campaign leading up to the film’s release last August. Since then, Baldoni has sued The New York Times and Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

“Outrage is the most boring emotion humans have these days,” Feig added. “When it’s towards something meaningful, that’s great. But people get outraged at everything. It’s like, this is what you’re angry about? There’s other things to be outraged about – please, go and help make the world a better place.”

Back in December, Feig also publicly showed his support for Lively, whom he worked with on both “Simple Favor” movies. “All I can say is she’s one of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented and kind people I’ve ever worked with,” Feig wrote on X, linking to a New York Times article about Lively’s complaint. “She truly did not deserve any of this smear campaign against her. I think it’s awful she was put through this.”

“Another Simple Favor” is currently streaming on Prime Video.
