Prince Harry made an unsettling comment about history repeating itself following the recent blow to his security case battle.

After losing his appeal to reinstate his state-funded security on Friday, May 2, Harry sent a cryptic warning about where the “responsibility” will lie should something bad happen to his family.

Talking to the BBC after the judge’s decision on Friday, Harry said that “at the heart” of his security battle is a “family dispute” with King Charles following his and Meghan Markle‘s decision to step down from their royal duties in 2020.

Harry, 40, claimed that his loss of security was a “decision that was made—most likely, in fact, I know—to keep us under the roof.”

But now that Harry and Meghan have started a new life in California with their two children, Prince Archie and PrincessLilibet, Harry insisted that the monarchy’s “duty of care” for him has been abandoned—and it could have terrifying consequences.

“Look at the risk, look at the threat, look at the impact that if anything was to happen to me, my wife, or my father’s grandchildren,” Harry said. “If anything was to happen to them, look where the responsibility lies.”

The Duke of Sussex went on to say, “I don’t want history to repeat itself,” seemingly referring to his mother Princess Diana and the tragic fate she met after choosing to decline police protection following her divorce from King Charles.

She died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 while being chased by paparazzi with just private security protecting her.

“I think there’s a lot of other people out there, the majority, that also don’t want history to repeat itself,” Harry added during the new BBC interview. “Through the disclosure process, I’ve discovered that some people want history to repeat itself, which is pretty dark.”
