Laura Bell Bundy revisited her blonde roots to celebrate the 18th anniversary of Legally Blonde: The Musical. Bundy took a trip down memory lane as she rummaged through all her old costumes, admitting that her character Elle Woods did have the “best freaking shoes,” mainly due to her input.
From April 2007 to July 2008, Bundy, 45, starred in Broadway’s adaptation of the hit 2001 film of the same name. For the role, Bundy received her first Tony Award nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical.

Bundy recently went through all the costumes and shoes stored in her garage from her days on the stage as the bubbly sorority sister. She pulled out boots from dance numbers, the original dog bag for Wood’s Chihuahua, Bruiser, and the exact pair of heels her character was wearing when she decided she wanted to go to Harvard Law School.
As Bundy went through the shoes, she explained which songs she performed while wearing them, like “Positive” and “What You Want.” In the video posted on TikTok, Bundy noted that Woods’ footwear would have been a lot different without her input and sense of style.
“I was in rehearsal and they brought a bunch of theatrical dance shoes to fit me in that they were gonna paint to match my costumes,” Bundy explained. “They said, ‘This is what they’re gonna look like.’ I said, ‘Elle Woods would never wear these shoes. These look like hospital shoes.’ “
“And if you’re gonna say, ‘She’s got the best freaking shoes,’ then we need the best freaking shoes,” she continued. “So I agreed to not have foot safety or support, and I wore designer shoes.”

Woods’ shoes, along with other props from the show, are now on display at the Museum of Broadway in New York City.
“Whatever they want,” Bundy said in the video. “So that it’s not just going to be stuck here in my garage doing nothing.”

The Museum of Broadway also hosted a reunion of the original cast of the musical, including Bundy, Christian Borle, Kate Shindle, and Orfeh, to celebrate the show’s 18th anniversary. Annaleigh Ashford, Richard H. Blake, and Michael Rupert were also part of the original cast.
Legally Blonde: The Musical featured music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a script by Heather Hach. Both the musical and the film were based on Amanda Brown’s novel Legally Blonde.
