Heidi Klum is getting a head start on her tan.
The former America’s Got Talent judge took to Instagram on Thursday, May 1, to share a quick video of how she is preparing for the hotter months ahead.
In the video, the model, 51, is seen sunbathing by the pool. But instead of wearing a bikini, she sat in a lounge chair nearly naked.
Klum wore a tiny black thong in the video, but remained topless to avoid any tan lines. The 51-year-old angled the camera ever so slightly to show off her toned legs and backside, while also giving a better glimpse at the clear blue, sunny day she enjoyed.
“Preparation,” Klum captioned the post, adding a sun emoji.
Going topless isn’t a big deal to Klum — in fact, she previously revealed she’s naked around her house so much that her children sometimes remind her that they have company coming over so she can get dressed.

“I’m super comfortable naked today. To the point where my kids are like, ‘Mom, I have a friend coming over.’ And I’m like, ‘Have I ever been naked in the backyard when a friend was coming over?’ ” Klum recalled in her 2023 PEOPLE StyleWatch cover story.
She added, “As soon as someone is coming, I put my top on. But if no one is there, sun’s out, bums out. I just don’t like tan lines because I wear so many different outfits. I don’t want to have straps anywhere from tan lines. It’s very strategic.”

The model’s confidence in her body has led her to posting cheeky thirst traps and steamy lingerie photos online, and has inspired her to wear an array of outfits with daring elements, from eye-catching statement coats to neon tassel dresses.

“I’m not shy about my femininity. I love dressing up where I have my cleavage showing, wearing miniskirts, high heels, gorgeous stockings — but that doesn’t mean I want to go home with you,” Klum said in a November 2024 interview with the U.K. newspaper The Times.
“I want to have fun and show my body, but I have boundaries, as do all women,” she continued.

Klum has even extended the body confidence to her daughter, Leni — the pair posed together in lingerie for their Intimissimi ads, which drew backlash online. Klum didn’t address the backlash, and her daughter took it in stride.
“I always try to remember that no matter what you do, there will always be someone who doesn’t like it. You simply have no control over it and you can’t focus too much on the negative,” Leni said in a March cover story for Glamour Germany.
