Chloe Fineman is still able to crack some jokes about a tense interaction.
The Saturday Night Live star took to TikTok over the weekend to detail an argument she had with the manager at a popular New York City restaurant.
Sitting beside her sister, Emma Fineman, the Summer of 69 actor described how the pair had “the best day of our lives” that day. “We went to the Met, we went to an Alo pilates thing — very New York,” she said, explaining that they were in uptown Manhattan. She joked that the area is a “food desert.”
They decide to go to Sant Ambroeus, an Italian restaurant with several locations in N.Y.C., which she and her sister quipped as being the place for a tuna melt.
Upon arrival, a restaurant employee led the sisters into the restaurant. “I walk into a room and there are several empty tables. I sit down and then I look up and it’s Pilaf Little Mouse, the celebrity dog of Demi Moore,” Fineman recalled, sticking her tongue out to mimic Pilaf’s iconic look. “And I see Demi Moore and I was like, ‘Oh, hi! We’ve met once or twice and I’ve held Pilaf.’ Then she fully said ‘Hi,’ back.”

Things took a turn when the manager spotting her talking to Moore, Fineman said. “I don’t know, did I not look legitimate enough for this empty room of Sant Ambroeus?” she laughed. “And the guy’s like, ‘What are you doing here ma’am? Come, come, come with me now, now.’ I guess I didn’t realize you have to talk to another Italian guy to get a seat even though there’s a thousand empty tables.”

The two argued and Fineman tried to subdue the conflict. “I said, ‘Calm down, I’m not nobody. I’m on SNL,’” she recalled, causing her and her sister to burst out in laughter at the “diva” statement. “He was like, ‘I don’t care who you are, I treat everybody the same, you have to talk to me first.’”
The comedian called him “rude” and he responded by calling her “rude,” before she “took [herself] out of the situation.”

“You could call it a Karen, I also call it living in New York and everyone is rude as f—,” she concluded.
Fineman had a bystander attest to the interaction in the comments section of the TikTok video. Musician Samantha Ronson wrote, “Lol. I was there with Pilaf and her mom and we were so confused and horrified. That was so rude. I’m sorry. You can sit with us, next time.” Fineman replied warmly, “Hi!! I know i was trying to say hi!! Next time (and downtown location is waaaay better vibes)”
Fineman joined SNL as a featured player for its 45th season in 2019 and has been a full-time cast member since 2021.
