Even though he’s one of the most famous human beings ever born on planet Earth, Paul McCartney, 82, has managed to keep his marriage to Nancy Shevell, 65, relatively low-profile. But the former Beatle recently opened up about the pair’s relationship — and the details he shared were surprisingly relatable.
In the latest entry to the You Gave Me the Answer blog on McCartney’s website, the iconic musician answered a question submitted by a reader named Joan.

“I’m curious, when it’s just you and Nancy at home together with a break from all your responsibilities and commitments, what do you do together to relax?” Joan wanted to know. “What are your shared interests?”
McCartney’s answer revealed his fondness for spending time in the kitchen…and watching TV.
“We chat and catch up with each other,” he wrote. “We eat lunch or dinner. Well, any meal really, as we love cooking,” he said. “Sometimes we will watch something on TV together, and I always read before bed, usually a biography, while Nancy finishes watching a series. We’re pretty much like any other normal couple!”
McCartney and Shevell tied the knot on October 9, 2011, at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London. The couple reportedly met several years earlier while they were both vacationing in the Hamptons, with Barbara Walters (Shevell’s second cousin) acting as Cupid.
“Barbara was her emotional confidante and played matchmaker,” a source told The Observer. “She gave numerous dinner parties for them and always made sure to invite people she knew that Paul would want to meet.”
McCartney’s marriage to Shevell is his third. The Grammy winner was married to Linda Eastman from 1969 until her death in 1998 from breast cancer; in 2002, he married Heather Mills, though the couple went on to separate in 2006 and divorce in 2008.
