It’s elementa-three for Enola Holmes.
That’s right, Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister is back on the case — because production has officially started on the third movie in the Enola Holmes film series.
It’s been nearly three years since we last left the Holmes family, but there are more adventures ahead for the sibling sleuths.
In November 2022, when asked if she would return for a third Enola Holmes movie, Millie Bobby Brown told Screen Rant, “Yes, absolutely. I would love to be a part of another one.”
“I would love to see her do more cases, be put under pressure, be put in crazy situations, make her feel vulnerable again,” she continued. “I absolutely love seeing her back at work.”

Yes, Enola Holmes 3 is currently in the works.
On April 22, Netflix posted an image on X of costars Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge on set.
“Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge spotted behind the scenes of Enola Holmes 3. NOW IN PRODUCTION!” the streamer noted.
Over on Instagram, Brown shared a video of her and Partridge back in character, with the caption: “And so we begin.”
The official synopsis for Enola Holmes 3 reads: “Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.”
Philip Barantini (Adolescence) will direct the film. According to Deadline, his pitch for the third film was darker in tone, explaining that the third installment would do “for the franchise what Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban did for the Harry Potter series.”
Jack Thorne, who penned the first two Enola Holmes movies, also wrote Enola Holmes 3.
When is the release date for Enola Holmes 3?

No word yet on when Enola Holmes 3 will premiere, but the previous two installments were released two years apart.
The first Enola Holmes hit Netflix in September 2020, and Enola Holmes 2 in October 2022. Production on Enola Holmes 2 kicked off in fall 2021, with the film being released the following year.
If Enola Holmes 3 follows the same schedule, it’s likely to debut on Netflix sometime in 2026.

Brown is back as Enola Holmes. Other cast members reprising their roles from the previous films include Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and Partridge as Enola’s love interest, Lord Viscount Tewkesbury.
The rest of the returning cast include Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson (who appeared briefly at the end of Enola Holmes 2), Helena Bonham Carter as Sherlock and Enola’s mother, Eudoria Holmes and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Mira Troy, a.k.a. Moriarty.
“I can’t wait to collaborate again with my ‘Enola Holmes’ family,” Brown said, when Enola Holmes 2 was announced in 2021. “Enola holds a special place in my heart — she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”

After helping inspire the Matchstick Girls Strike, Enola sets up a new shop for her detective agency.
Sherlock stops in to check on his younger sister and learns from the newspaper that Mira Troy (a.k.a. Moriarty) has escaped from police custody — setting up another battle between the dueling detectives.
Shortly after, Lord Tewkesbury visits Enola and gives her a flower bouquet. During their conversation, he invites her to a ball, and the two walk arm in arm down a London street.
Enola Holmes 2 ends with a mid-credit sequence where Sherlock and Dr. Watson (Patel) meet.
