While East Coasters are begrudgingly bringing out their winter coats one more time to deal with an unexpected spring cold front, West Coasters are basically partying like its already summer. At least, that much is true for the hordes of Coachella-bound travelers who are making their way into Palm Springs ahead of weekend one.
For Hailey Bieber, the warm weather means it’s finally time to revive the you-either-love-’em-or-you-hate-’em footwear style: the thong sandal. During a recent outing in Palm Springs, the Rhode founder was seen walking hand-in-hand with husband Justin Bieber while dressed in a look that was equal parts laidback and chic. She wore a plain black spaghetti-strap tank top with ruching at the center of the sweetheart neckline, paired with faded straight-leg jeans that hung low on her hips. Her thong sandals weren’t just your average rubber flip-flops; she elevated the style with a sleek set featuring black leather straps and gold buckles. She completed the look with a few more black accents, including a Fila baseball cap, oval-shaped sunglasses, and a leather shoulder bag.
Justin also kept it simple with his own look, opting for a cobalt blue sweater vest with a checkered knit pattern, denim cargo pants, a red leather belt, and narrow dark-brown sunglasses.
Hailey previously opened up about her minimalist sense of style in an interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s September 2022 cover story. “I get photographed so much that I feel like sometimes I put pressure on myself,” she said. “Even if I’m just throwing on jeans and a T-shirt, I want it to be a dope pair of jeans and a great T-shirt!”
