UPDATE — 4/29/25, 6:18 p.m. ET: Prince William and Kate Middleton are giving fans a glimpse into their private anniversary celebration.

While marking 14 years of marriage, the couple confirmed they were enjoying some quality time together on an island in Scotland.

“Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull,” the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, April 29, while enjoying picture-perfect views. “Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome ❤️ W & C.”

As they mark the romantic milestone, William, 42, and Kate, 43, will embark on a two-day trip to the Isles of Mull and Iona on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 30.

During the visit, the couple will meet with members of the island communities and reflect “on the power of social connection and the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment,” according to a Kensington Palace press release issued to Us Weekly.

Us understands that the Prince and Princess of Wales will spend their anniversary in a self-catered cottage on the Isle of Mull.

“Kate has spoken recently about how nature has been a sanctuary for her and the family over the past year,” royal commentator Amanda Matta told Us. “Visiting the Scottish Isles isn’t just part of Will and Kate’s duty; it’s showing us how they stay grounded as a couple.”

Matta said the trip will allow the pair to prioritize “quiet reconnection” while embracing their public duties.

The couple has certainly faced tough challenges over the past 15 months. William’s father, King Charles III, is currently receiving treatment for cancer after being diagnosed with an unnamed form of the illness in January 2024.

Kate, meanwhile, announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer following “major abdominal surgery.” The royal said she was in remission while visiting the hospital where she underwent treatment in January.

“They’ve weathered big life changes together: three children, major transitions in the firm, and now Kate’s health challenges,” Matta said of the couple’s relationship.

While the couple embrace a full royal schedule, they are also enjoying balance and taking time for themselves. For example, they were notably absent from the royal family’s Easter celebrations on April 20.

Speaking to Us, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said an international work trip could be on the horizon for William and Kate, however, “given the gruelling nature of royal tours, this will take time.”

Royal fans shouldn’t be surprised if they see the couple pack on the PDA during the trip, according to Fitzwilliams, who described their interactions as “totally genuine.”

“It does give their public appearances a more human touch, especially in the light of recent traumas,” he added.

Evan Nierman, founder and CEO of global PR firm Red Banyan, told Us that the couple’s PDA has evolved, as “they seem far more comfortable showing small, genuine moments together.”

“A hand on the back, quick smile or a loving social post reminds the public they’re more than just royal titles,” Nierman said. “It’s smart PR because it softens their image and cuts through the noise without ever saying a word.”

“William and Kate have matured from newlyweds to the cornerstone couple of the Monarchy — and by that, I mean they’ve come to be seen as the solid, stable embodiment of the institution,” royal commentator and podcast host Kristen Meinzer told Us.

“Much like the late Queen and Phillip, they project a certain stability and constancy, and added to that is the legacy of Diana, running through William’s veins, which make him even more beloved,” she added.
