Your favorite unhinged wellness guru is back!
PEOPLE has the exclusive first trailer for Nine Perfect Strangers season 2, which sees Nicole Kidman’s Masha take nine new people under her wings to undergo psychedelic therapy to heal their traumas.
The actress, 57, leads a starry ensemble in the drama series, including Henry Golding, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Mark Strong and Aras Aydin.
The second season sees the Russian guru moving her transformational wellness retreat from Tranquillum House in California to Zauberwald in the snowy Austrian Alps. “Over the course of a week, she takes them to the brink,” the synopsis teases. “Will they make it? Will she? Masha is willing to try anything in the interest of healing everyone involved, including herself.”

Another big change? Masha learns the power of a new haircut as the resort director notably swaps her long beachy waves for a blunt long bob.
The trailer opens with the nine guests fashionably arriving at the resort, one in a private jet and others in a black car service. A voiceover explains that the participants were “chosen under bizarre circumstances for a healing retreat.”

“Feels like a set-up,” one guest muses, right before the scene cuts to Strong’s David asking Masha if she is using him for his money. The guru responds to the accusation with a somber, “I brought you here to heal, David.”
But those who tuned into the first season know that Masha may have some ulterior motives.

Later, Masha greets her guests in a common area of the luxurious chalet. The guru explains, “I invited you all here because sometimes you shouldn’t deal with pain gently.” However, this is a shocking reveal to one guest as King Princess’ character exclaims, “Wait, this is not a spa?”
“She’s going to bleach our brains, darling,” Baranski’s character quips.
“This is a cleansing of the mind,” Masha continues. “To recharge, to rediscover inspiration.” While she speaks, flashes of the trip’s various activities play in a montage. The group is seen hiking through a snowy landscape, preparing for an exercise class and being served a mysterious beverage, which may or may not be laced with hallucinogenic drugs.
Masha also takes the strangers “back to a core memory” as part of the healing practice. For this, the participants are shown sitting in brightly colored rooms, playing with puppets and viewing an old black-and-white video.

The trailer also teases a big reveal about Masha’s past. She is shown having an intense conversation in an office with another woman, who tells her, “You came to me a broken woman.” Scenes of the guru in a hospital bed and looming over the railing of a balcony play as the woman continues to tell her, “And you break everyone you try to heal.”
Masha then breaks down. She stands up and bangs her hands against a desk while shouting, “Stop! Stop! Stop it!”
Others continue to talk back to Masha, as she is later shown being told, “Sometimes, the lies you let people believe are just as important as the truth.” How strange, isn’t Masha supposed to be the wise one here?
Masha narrowly avoided the consequences of her actions in the debut season due to the retreat guests covering for her, so it will be interesting to see how she wins over the nine strangers this time around.
