As a major winter storm hit the Northeast, a New Jersey man used a $4,999 autonomous snow blower to clear his driveway, showcasing the potential of robotics in tackling snowy conditions.
The storm, which dumped up to 19 inches of snow in some areas, presented a significant challenge for residents, but the autonomous snow blower, made by Yarbo, was able to clear the driveway with ease.
According to the manufacturer’s website, the autonomous snow blower can clear up to 12 inches of snow, throw it as far as 40 feet, and operate in temperatures as low as minus 13 degrees Fahrenheit, as reported by Business Insider.
The robot’s performance was documented by Tom Moloughney, a certified techie and host of the State of Charge YouTube channel, who purchased the machine and put it to the test during the storm.
Moloughney’s experience with the autonomous snow blower was largely positive, with the machine successfully clearing his driveway despite the heavy snowfall, a fact confirmed by Business Insider.
However, the robot did encounter some difficulties, including tracking back to its charger more frequently due to the steep incline of the driveway and the heavy snow.
Despite these challenges, the autonomous snow blower was able to complete its task, demonstrating its potential as a valuable tool for homeowners in snowy regions.
