CES 2026: How Electric Boats and 10-Minute Car Chargers Are Redefining Transportation

CES 2026 wasn’t just about flashy prototypes—it was about real-world transportation breakthroughs. Electric boats are proving they can outperform gas-powered vessels, while 10-minute car chargers promise to eliminate range anxiety. These innovations aren’t just futuristic concepts; they’re solutions ready to hit the market and transform how we travel.

The Electric Boat Revolution

Electric vehicles have dominated headlines for years, but CES 2026 proved that the next frontier is on the water. Arc Boats unveiled an all-electric sport boat that doesn’t just match gas-powered competitors—it outperforms them.

Mitch Lee, co-founder of Arc Boats, explained that electric propulsion offers a superior experience: “It’s honestly almost every aspect of the experience gets better. You can hold a conversation. It’s absent any sort of fumes. It’s more performant.” The boat leverages technology from electric cars, delivering instant torque and a smoother ride.

Safety concerns about electric boats in water were addressed head-on. Lee pointed out that electric cars already operate safely in extreme conditions, from car washes to hurricanes, while gas boats have a well-documented history of fires. This shift could make boating not just cleaner, but safer.

10-Minute Charging: The End of Range Anxiety?

While automakers scale back electric vehicle plans, startups like Electric Fish are doubling down on infrastructure. Their battery-powered fast charger promises a 10-minute charge—faster than anything currently on the market—without straining the grid.

Leonardo Mattiazzi, president of Electric Fish, emphasized the scalability of their solution: “We can charge cars faster, faster than anything else on the market, but we don’t put any extra stress on the grid. We can grow that infrastructure right now.” This could be the missing link to widespread EV adoption.

The technology is designed to integrate with existing gas stations, making it easier for drivers to transition to electric vehicles without changing their refueling habits.

Autonomous Driving: Beyond the Hype

Ambarella showcased radar technology that can detect pedestrians from 350 meters away—about a thousand feet—giving self-driving cars crucial reaction time. Ted Chua, director of product marketing, noted, “That gives the car enough time to react,” a critical factor in urban environments.

This isn’t just about consumer vehicles. Autonomous shipping trucks and electric tugboats (like Arc Boats’ 26-foot model for the Port of Los Angeles) are set to revolutionize logistics, reducing emissions and improving efficiency in supply chains.

Why This Matters

These innovations represent more than just incremental improvements—they’re paradigm shifts:

  • Electric boats could make water travel cleaner, quieter, and safer.
  • 10-minute chargers remove one of the biggest barriers to EV adoption.
  • Advanced radar brings us closer to truly reliable autonomous vehicles.

The technology is here. The infrastructure is being built. The question now is how quickly these solutions will scale—and whether policymakers will support them.
