Chelsea Handler defends Mandy Moore amid Ashley Tisdale’s viral mom group drama, calling Moore a “sweet person” while offering her candid take on celebrity friendships.

Chelsea Handler has entered the celebrity mom group drama, offering her perspective on the viral controversy surrounding Ashley Tisdale’s essay about leaving her “toxic” mom friends. During an appearance on Page Six Radio, the comedian defended Mandy Moore, calling her a “wonderful, sweet person” while acknowledging she doesn’t know Tisdale personally.

“I have no idea what went on, but I know Mandy Moore and she’s a wonderful, sweet person,” Handler said. “So I’ll just say that. But I don’t really know Ashley Tisdale.”

Handler’s comments come after Tisdale’s now-viral essay for The Cut, where she detailed her decision to leave a mom group that allegedly excluded her from hangouts and group chats. While Tisdale did not name Moore directly, the This Is Us alum was previously linked to the group, which also included Hilary Duff and Meghan Trainor.

The Mom Group Drama Explained

Tisdale’s essay, published on January 1, described her experience feeling “frozen out” of the group, despite initially bonding with them during the pandemic. “I remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story,” she wrote. “I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me.”

Tisdale ultimately texted the group, stating, “This is too high school for me, and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.” She clarified that she doesn’t consider the moms “bad people” but felt the group dynamic had become unhealthy.

Handler’s Take on Celebrity Friendships

Handler, who has previously stated she doesn’t want children, also shared her thoughts on mom groups in general. “It sounds awful,” she said. “That’s another reason not to have children. To have to deal with that s***. You’re out of school, you’re a mother and you have to deal with that dynamic and being excluded again as an adult woman. No, thank you.”

Despite her lack of personal experience with mom groups, Handler praised other members of the alleged group, including Duff and Trainor. “I do like Meghan Trainor as well,” she said. “I like when Hilary Duff is in a story. I’m not sure why. I’m attracted to story lines with her in them.”

Why This Matters

The drama highlights the complexities of celebrity friendships, especially among moms in the public eye. Handler’s defense of Moore adds another layer to the conversation, emphasizing the importance of individual perspectives in such disputes.

For fans of Moore, Duff, and Trainor, the controversy raises questions about the pressures of maintaining friendships under public scrutiny. Handler’s candid remarks also underscore the challenges of navigating social dynamics, even among adults.

As the story continues to unfold, it remains a topic of fascination for celebrity watchers and a reminder of the human side of fame.
