Nikki Glaser, the host of the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, shares her strategy for navigating the complex world of celebrity humor, including which jokes to avoid and how to poke fun at A-listers like Leonardo DiCaprio.
Nikki Glaser returns as the host of the Golden Globes for the 2026 show, and she’s already thinking about how to approach the night’s jokes. In an exclusive interview, Glaser revealed that she’s avoiding certain topics and celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, whose latest film, One Battle After Another, led the nominations among movies this year.
Glaser explained that her goal is to challenge herself and try not to do what’s expected. She wants to find new ways to joke about the celebrities in attendance, rather than relying on familiar jokes. “I kind of have to keep wrapping my head around the kind of people that are going to be present in this room,” she said.
Glaser’s Approach to Hosting
Glaser’s approach to hosting the Golden Globes is to be respectful and funny at the same time. She believes that if she really likes the people she’s joking about, she can get away with saying something negative. “But when I’m really a fan, which I am of so many of these people, that’s when I can go a bit harder, because it really does come from a place of love and knowing that I’m nothing compared to you,” she said.
The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. EST, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Glaser’s return as host was announced in March, and she said in a statement at the time that hosting 2025’s show was “without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career.”
