From Raya profiles filled with mountain climbers to psychic predictions about her future husband, Dakota Fanning opens up about her unique journey to find lasting love, revealing a heartfelt desire for family life that transcends her glittering career.

In a world often defined by fleeting romances and digital connections, actress Dakota Fanning stands firm in her commitment to finding a genuine, enduring love. At 31, the star has offered a remarkably candid glimpse into her experiences with modern dating, revealing both the amusing frustrations of dating apps and her deeply traditional aspirations for marriage and motherhood.

Contentment in Singleness and a High Bar for Love

Despite the pressures often associated with celebrity life, Fanning expresses a profound contentment with her single status. “I know what I have to give and I know what I deserve in return,” Fanning told The Times of London in an October 25 profile. “I’m super happy to wait for that.” This conviction highlights a mature approach to romance, prioritizing self-worth over societal expectations.

Her journey through dating has included ventures into the digital realm, specifically on the exclusive, celebrity-favorite app, Raya. Fanning’s description of the typical male profile on the app is hilariously relatable to many singletons.

“Oh my God, ask your single girlfriends! Every man is like, ‘Must love mountain biking, and want to go on a hike, and want to be really adventurous and outdoorsy, must love dogs and want to go to the summit of Everest,’” Fanning lamented. Her response? “I’m like, ‘No, I don’t want to do any of that and if I do I’ll do it when I want to.’ It’s every guy — then it’s a shirtless picture of them on a mountain. You’re like, ‘Dude, save it please.’”

She previously confirmed her “disastrous” Raya experience, noting that her profile was actually created by a girlfriend for fun. “I can confirm that [my husband] is not [on this app]. I’m canceling this thing!” she recalled during a Vanity Fair interview, as reported by Yahoo Entertainment.

The Pitfalls of Matchmaking and Sisterly Wisdom

Beyond dating apps, Fanning has also navigated the well-intentioned, yet often misguided, attempts of friends to set her up. Having entered her 30s last year, she found these experiences more perplexing than promising.

“You’re like, ‘Is this what you think of me?’” she said of the questionable companions, leading her to sometimes “question the friendship with that person.” It’s a sentiment many can identify with when friends’ perceptions of a “good match” don’t quite align with reality.

In her romantic quest, Fanning finds support and perhaps a hint of cosmic guidance from her sister, Elle Fanning. Elle, 27, who is currently dating magazine executive Gus Wenner, once shared a significant prediction from a psychic with Dakota.

“My sister spoke to a psychic who said, ‘Your sister is not going to meet the person she is going to marry until she’s 32,’” Dakota recalled to the British newspaper. Her initial reaction: “She told me that a few years ago and I was, like, ‘32? I don’t have time for that.’” With her 32nd birthday approaching, fans are curious if this prediction will prove true.

A Deep-Rooted Desire for Motherhood and Family

Despite the challenges of finding a partner, Fanning’s vision for the future is clear and deeply personal: motherhood. She articulates this dream with heartfelt sincerity.

“There’s still so much to be done [in my career] but I also would love to live on a farm and have three kids,” Fanning mused. “Being a mother is the pinnacle to me. It’s the thing I can’t wait for most in my life.” This strong desire is not new for her. “I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want kids. For whatever reason it is something in me,” she added.

Drawing Inspiration from a Unique Family History

Fanning’s “weird vision of relationships” stems from her parents’ own love story. “My parents have known each other since second grade, and they got married right out of college,” she previously told Us Weekly in 2013, referencing her now-divorced parents. This early exposure to a profound, long-standing connection has shaped her expectations for her own relationships.

“I’ve always thought that’s what it’s supposed to be like, and if it’s not, then I don’t want to waste my time on it,” she explained. This discerning approach to dating isn’t naive but rather a strong commitment to finding a partnership that mirrors the depth and longevity she witnessed. Her public relationships have been few, including dating model Jamie Strachan from 2013 to 2016, followed by brief connections with Logan Markley and Henry Frye.

Relatability: Celebrities are Just Like Us

Dakota Fanning’s experiences resonate beyond the glitz of Hollywood. Her frustrations with dating app clichés, the awkwardness of mismatched setups, and her deep longing for a family unit are universal themes. She reminds us that even celebrities navigate the complex terrain of finding love, often encountering the same hurdles as anyone else.

Her journey underscores a powerful message: while the modern dating world presents its unique challenges, holding firm to one’s values and being patient for the right connection remains paramount. For Fanning, the wait is worth it for a love that will truly lead to her ultimate dream of a farm life with three children.
