Spooky season is nearly here, and two home development stores are going head-to-head for who has the tallest “skelly.”
The Home Depot’s Skelly, a 12-foot, plastic skeleton, has dominated front yards (and social media) since its debut in 2020. But this year, Lowe’s is hoping to get into the action with a 20-foot inflatable skeleton. And no, it doesn’t appear that this handsome fellow has a name.
Lowe’s Haunted Living 20-Foot Colossal Skeleton Inflatable stands two stories tall and features a friendly, cartoon-ish black and white skeleton, waving to those below. The inflatable, which is marketed as being able to inflate and deflate on its own in seconds, is available on the Lowe’s website for $269. The skeleton features a constant, white LED light to illuminate the yard.
For comparison, the Home Depot Skelly is listed at $299 on the Home Depot website. The plastic skeleton features poseable arms, tethers and ground stakes for stability. New this year are LED eyeballs that can be controlled with a remote.
For those looking to add to their Skelly collection, the Home Depot also offers Skelly’s Cat, a 5-foot-long skeleton cat with a poseable mouth and orange eyes, and Skelly’s Dog, a 7-foot-long skeleton dog with eight LED eyeball options and a poseable jaw. Both animals are $199 on the Home Depot website.
