NEED TO KNOW

  • Trisha Paytas is celebrating her annual “King Tut Day”

  • The influencer declared in 2020 that Aug. 27 would be “King Tut Day,” after she shared a video of herself dancing to Steve Martin’s 1978 song “King Tut”

  • She has celebrated by adding a new video each year, with the 2025 clip featuring her three children

Trisha Paytas is bringing her three kids into her annual “King Tut” video.

The influencer, 37, posted a TikTok on Wednesday, Aug. 27, in which she wore her King Tut costume again. This year, she included her and husband Moses Hacmon’s three children: Aquaman, 1 month, Elvis, 15 months and Malibu Barbie, who will be 3 in September.

In the clip, Paytas sings the words to Steve Martin’s 1978 novelty hit while wearing the costume, which includes a gold metallic helmet. Malibu and Elvis are dressed in identical outfits that match their mother’s costume. Aquaman wears a pharaoh headpiece and cuffs around his hands as she cradles him in her arms.

“King Tut 5 years later,” she captioned the video.

Several TikTok users celebrated the occasion in the influencer’s comment section. One user wrote, “Aqua man’s first King tut day!”

Another added, “The way they’re probably just like ‘I love playing dress up with mommy’ 😭😭😭😭.”

“WAKE UP ITS KING TUT DAY,” one person commented. While another quipped, “This is my favourite holiday. Almost time to see the first leaves fall, the smell of pumpkin spice on the horizon. King tut plays softly in the background.”

The proud mom also included a separate video of her dancing with Aquaman to the tune. She also added a video of her and Elvis grooving to the song in matching looks.

The influencer also added photos to her Instagram to commemorate the occasion. The first image included her holding her daughter’s hand while she cradled Aquaman in her lap — all in their Egyptian-themed costumes. The second photo captured her lovingly looking at her infant son as he stayed put in her lap. Her husband also joined in on the fun and reposted the second image to his Instagram Stories.

“Happy King Tut Day,” she captioned the post.

Paytas’ King Tut videos first began in 2020, when she decided to dance and lip sync — in what would become a memorable costume — to Martin’s song.

At the time, she was dressed in an Egyptian-style costume, which she said she purchased for $39 at Spirit Halloween. She offered a glimpse into her choreography and lip-syncing routine that would soon become a viral hit on TikTok. She later revealed in a 2024 video that she was replicating Martin’s choreography.

Fans became so enamored with Paytas’ video that she has since added new videos of herself in the costume in the years since. She even duets the videos with the latest iteration. (Dueting a video is when a user reposts a video with a side-by-side video of their own.)

While Paytas has created her own King Tut day on TikTok, the actual day is Nov. 4. The day commemorates the 1922 discovery of King Tut’s tomb in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings by a British archaeologist.

Paytas was also celebrated for her unusual caption: “#euphoric Prob offensive. prob delete later.” She later confirmed in a 2024 video that “#euphoric” was added in reference to the filter she used in the first video.
