Everyone has a lot of feelings about the return of the skinny jean—millennials with embarrassing Facebook Memories showing catastrophic 2000s outfits more than anyone—but Kendall Jenner is here to offer a soft entrance into the slim-jean resurgence.
Last week, the supermodel slipped into some sleek denim pants while out in Los Angeles. The jeans sat perfectly on her hips—not too high and not too low—and their cut was something between a skinny jean and a classic straight-leg. They were not annoyingly tight, and in fact left enough room for Jenner to tuck a slinky black bateau-neck top into them, and for her ankles to be freed.
The 818 founder added a pop of red to her easy look via a pair of the Row’s Mila satin flats in strawberry red. (They retail for $890 on Jenner’s FWRD.) Hair pinned back with a tortoiseshell clip, like a true off-duty model, Jenner capped off her fit with sleek black sunglasses and a spacious black leather tote.
As we’ve seen on the runways for the past few seasons, brands such as Burberry, Isabel Marant, Miu Miu, Prada, Hodakova, and Ottolinger are rooting for jeans to get getting skinnier and skinnier in a push back toward Y2K fashion. But if Jenner’s latest look is any indication, we can still escape the restrictions of the skintight denim we loved as teens whilst still reaping the benefits of slender trouser silhouettes.
