NEED TO KNOW

  • Jason Kelce is showing off his muscles

  • In a series of photos posted to Instagram, the former Philadelphia Eagles star shared a glimpse of a recent workout

  • Kelce has been outspoken about his desire to lose weight since he retired from the league in 2024

Jason Kelce is ready for the NFL season — even in retirement!

The Monday Night Countdown analyst shared excerpts of a recent workout on Instagram on Thursday, Aug. 21 — and his recent weight loss is seemingly on full display.

In the carousel of photos, the retired NFL center, 37, is seen lifting weights and doing squats, his biceps and other arm muscles bulging with exertion.

“When hungry dogs run faster,” Kelce’s gym, Alpha Phlyte Fitness, wrote in the caption.

For the ESPN broadcaster, getting fit has become the name of his post-football game.

Kelce has been on a health journey since he retired from the NFL after 13 years in March 2024.

Shortly after sharing his emotional retirement announcement, the former Philadelphia Eagles player said that he was going on a health journey to “slim down.”

Kelce explained that his lifestyle had changed after the sport, since he was no longer required to look like an offensive lineman.

“But I’m gonna slim down. My goal is 250 lbs.,” he said during a March 2024 episode of his and brother Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights. “This last week I got down to like 285 because I knew I was doing this and then I had cake like three days in a row.”

In the year-plus since, the former Philadelphia Eagles star has frequently referenced his weight, sharing his goals and even occasionally working out at the team’s facility.

Last month, while attempting to fit into his old University of Cincinnati jersey as a bit on New Heights, the elder Kelce reflected on how his body has evolved.

“I look like a long snapper now,” Jason said, marveling at his weight loss. “Do I go back to number 48, my linebacker numbers? Would that look better? That would even look more like a long snapper. 48’s a long snapper number,” Jason added.

A few months earlier in May, Kelce shared that he had lost about 30 lbs., and was aiming for his long-discussed goal of weighing about 250 lbs.

But adjusting to life outside football has not been without its challenges, he said.

“It’s getting bad,” Kelce said on New Heights in May. “I don’t know if it’s the moment you retire mentally, your body retires too, physically, because I am just [struggling]. I’m trying to lift weights. I keep straining muscles.”
