6 NFL rookie cards you should be watching this season

The NFL season is about to kick off and football card collectors have been ripping packs of cards looking for the newest rookies.

Not all rookie cards are created equally, though. Some are worth more than others, which can be determined by talent, hype, team or position.

Quarterbacks tend to be the most valuable. However, there are other players in the 2025 rookie class who are also receiving some love from collectors.

Which players should you be watching and collecting? Here are six 2025 NFL rookies to watch this season.

Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars: That rule about quarterbacks being the most valuable doesn’t always hold true, and Hunter’s cards are the exceptions. Several of his low-numbered rookie cards have sold for more than a thousand dollars, including a 2025 Panini Instant NFL Draft signed rookie card, which sold for $1,952.

Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns: Sanders recently lost the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback role to Joe Flacco. However, Sanders comes with a pedigree and hype, which is sometimes all that is needed for cards to sell for big bucks. Keep in mind, there is risk here for those looking to invest in his cards as he might not see much playing time.

Jaxson Dart, New York Giants: Dart is a player with a lot of upside, and the New York Giants and their fans love him. Playing for a franchise like the Giants adds value to his cards. Two of his 2024 Select XRCs have sold for nearly $4,000 each — and some of his pre-NFL cards have sold for more than $5,000.

Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans: There won’t be any autographed cards of Ward in an NFL uniform. Ward signed a deal with Fanatics (and Topps by extension), so the No. 1 overall draft pick’s autos look like they will appear in only Topps products. But his low-numbered rare cards will still do well on the secondary market, as shown by a 2024 Select XRC selling for $6,100 back in July.

Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders: Jeanty is on the next tier from the above players, but his cards sell for a solid amount and are still valuable. His Boise State cards from 2024 have sold for more on the secondary market than his NFL cards, but there’s still time for the running back.

Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers: Hampton received a lot of attention at the University of North Carolina. He’s now looking to leave his mark after being drafted in the first round by the Chargers. Given he’s also going to be a starter, there’s a good chance his cards will hold good value throughout the season.
