Bulk Savings
The most obvious answer is that buying in bulk can save you money. In Costco’s case, a significant amount annually, too. CNET compared the cost of a host of groceries such as eggs, milk, cheese, ground beef, cereal, peanut butter, coffee, rice and more with that of Stop & Shop, another chain known for especially low prices. The verdict? The savings on this particular list in contrast to conventional, nonbulk groceries elsewhere, could save the average Costco member over $1,000 during a year.

Gas and Auto Discounts
Costco’s personal brand extends beyond household goods into gasoline, with Kirkland signature gasoline, which is cheaper than the average gas station. A membership gives you access to any Costco gas station, which you can find on its website. In a time when gas prices are going up again, this could save you significantly.
If you’re in the market for a new or preowned car, Costco can even help you get a better deal on one, as well as alert you to manufacturer’s discounts through its auto purchasing program.
Insurance and Healthcare Discounts
Through a partnership with American Family Insurance, Costco’s Connect program can provide its members with discounted home and auto insurance. You can get all the same benefits as you would through regular insurance on top of this, such as discounts for good drivers and more.
You can also obtain health and vision insurance, life insurance and pet insurance.
Pharmacy Discounts
In addition to hitting almost every area of your shopping list at a Costco, you can now add prescription fill and pick-up, too. Costco’s pharmacy will fill your medications often for less than you’d get elsewhere, and for no additional charge to members.
Travel Discounts
Looking to score deals on all the aspects of travel, from flights and hotels to meals and activities? Costco can act as your own personal travel agent, with hundreds of package deals on resorts, trips and leisure, neatly organized so that you barely have to plan, just pack your bags and go.
