Mayor of Kingstown is extending its term.
The Paramount+ crime thriller follows the McLuskys, a family of power brokers in Kingstown, Mich., a bleak location with a booming incarceration system. The series stars Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky, who becomes “mayor” after the death of his older brother, Mitch, played by Kyle Chandler.
Mayor of Kingstown, co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, first premiered in November 2021. Its latest season, season 3, ended in August 2024.
In January 2024, Renner told PEOPLE how he was feeling “a little bit scared” to return for season 3, following his near-fatal snow plow accident in January 2023.
“I think I’m excited when I’m there and I get in a rhythm there,” he said about returning to set. “I’m excited about the character and, of course, all the people involved and all that in the storyline, but for me, I’m just tentative of confidence in work.”

Yes, Mayor of Kingstown is returning for a fourth season.
Paramount announced the season 4 renewal back in December 2024. According to a press release, Mayor of Kingstown was the top series on Paramount+ during its third season.
In an August 2025 Entertainment Weekly interview, Dillon — who co-created the series and stars as detective Ian Ferguson — described season 4 as “a detonation, not an escalation.”
“The blade’s sharper. The cuts go deeper,” he continued. “It’s about the intricacies of human emotion under pressure, and the choices we make when we have no good choices left. It’s an incendiary season 4.”

In “Comeuppance,” the season 3 finale, Mike killed Milo (Aidan Gillen) the Russian mobster who wanted control over Kingstown. Mike also learned that his brother, Kyle (Taylor Handley) had been arrested for attempted murder after shooting Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) in a chaotic bridge shootout.
In addition to the villainous Milo, two longtime characters also met their end: Iris (Emma Laird) and Capt. Kareem Moore (Michael Beach), both of whom had been with the series since the first season.
“They are dead. This is what happens. It’s a tragedy,” Dillon told Variety in August 2024, confirming Iris and Kareem’s deaths. “We know these people, and we understand. To pretend it didn’t happen would be a disservice to all of us.”

Renner is reprising his role of Mike McLusky in Mayor of Kingstown season 4.
Other returning cast members include Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Taylor Handley, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley and Nishi Munshi.
There will also be some new faces for the fourth season. Edie Falco (The Sopranos), Laura Benanti (Younger) and Lennie James (Fear the Walking Dead) will appear as series regulars in the upcoming episodes.
In June 2025, James, who plays a Detroit gangster named Frank Moses, told Screen Rant that working on Mayor of Kingstown “was a huge amount of fun.”
“It’s a good place to go to work, I had a good time,” he added.

Mayor of Kingstown season 4 is set to premiere Sunday, Oct. 26, on Paramount+.
According to the official season 4 description, Mike struggles to maintain control over Kingstown “as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians’ wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town.”
As if that wasn’t enough, Mike will face off against Nina Hobbs (Falco), a “headstrong” new prison warden.
In June 2025, Renner posted a picture on Instagram, announcing that filming had wrapped on season 4.
“Thank you to the cast and crew and most importantly … the FANS — this season will be worth the wait I promise,” he wrote in the caption.
