‘The Woman King’ (2022)‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ (2019)‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ (2011)

There are two big reasons why it’s so difficult to find new movies on HBO Max with over 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

For one thing, that’s a rare feat that only a few films have been able to achieve. Movies that hit around 80 percent are more common.

HBO Max also adds a large number of classic movies each month that predate Rotten Tomatoes rankings.

Regardless, Watch With Us has once again found three new HBO Max movies with over 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes that you can watch in August.

What’s New on HBO Max in August 2025: ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, ‘Freaky Tales’ and More

‘The Woman King’ (2022)

Rotten Tomatoes rank: 94 percent

If you saw the Black Panther movies and thought that the all-female warriors known as the Dora Milaje were just something Marvel made up, The Woman King offers a look back at their real-life counterparts in the Agojie. For nearly three centuries, these women warriors protected the West African Kingdom of Dahomey.

As is often the case, the film does take some liberties with history in the name of a better story. In the early 19th century, General Nanisca (Viola Davis) is renowned by her fellow Agojie and favored by King Ghez (John Boyega). While training a new generation of warriors, Nanisca uncovers a plot by a rival tribe that may destroy everything she’s dedicated herself to protecting.

The Woman King is streaming on HBO Max.

‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ (2019)

Rotten Tomatoes rank: 95 percent

Shia LaBeouf and Dakota Johnson get a little cinematic redemption in The Peanut Butter Falcon, a charming comedy/drama about a young man with Down Syndrome named Zak (Zack Gottsagen). Zak’s dreams of becoming a wrestler are too big to be contained, and he runs away from a facility to make them become a reality.

Johnson plays Eleanor, one of Zak’s caretakers at the facility. She’s supposed to find Zak and take him home, but before that can happen, he befriends Tyler (LaBeouf), a kindred spirit. Tyler takes Zak under his wing and treats him like the brother he never had. Tyler’s made some mistakes in his life, and helping Zak may be his shot at finding a new path for himself as well.

The Peanut Butter Falcon is streaming on HBO Max.

‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ (2011)

Rotten Tomatoes rank: 90 percent

Elizabeth Olsen‘s film debut in Martha Marcy May Marlene remains one of her best performances to date. Olsen plays Martha, a cult survivor who finally broke free of her leader, Patrick (John Hawkes), and reunited with her sister, Lucy (Sarah Paulson).

However, Martha’s time with the cult has left her unable to properly deal with life on the outside. Martha’s strange behavior also manages to alienate Lucy’s husband, Ted (Hugh Dancy). When Martha’s sanity comes into question, Lucy has to decide if she’ll stand by her sister or follow Ted’s wishes and ship her away for psychiatric help.
