Patrick Mahomes has spoken. The 29-year-old Kansas City Chiefs quarterback — and newfound Taylor Swift bestie — is revealing how he learned that Swift would be announcing her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, on boyfriend Travis Kelce’sNew Heights podcast. Mahomes was joined by Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who shared his thoughts on the couple’s relationship.

Mahomes, whose wife Brittany has become part of Swift’s inner circle since Kelce began dating the pop icon in the summer of 2023, has clearly become a Swiftie himself.
At Wednesday’s Chiefs post-training camp press conference, reporters were eager to get the three-time Super Bowl champion’s thoughts on Swift’s appearance on New Heights and the upcoming album announcement.
Brittany Got the Call — Not Patrick
“It surprised me, too. I knew before y’all did just because they called me after the podcast was done. Well, they didn’t call me. They called Brittany, but I was in the back of the FaceTime call,” Mahomes said with a laugh.
“I’m obviously super excited. And just knowing Taylor and seeing the process, from just a little bit closer — of how she makes the albums — it’s going to be amazing. And just how much work she puts into it. What better place to announce it than on the New Heights podcast.”
Mahomes added that he’d be watching the episode “just like everybody else.”

Coach Andy Reid Comments on Taylor and Travis
Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who previously revealed he knew Taylor Swift before Travis Kelce did, was also asked about the couple.
“I’m happy for them,” Reid said. “You want these guys to find somebody they can settle down with and that whole deal.”
Taylor Swift’s Big Announcement on ‘New Heights’
The Kelce brothers teased Swift’s appearance with a short clip in which the Eras Tour star revealed the title of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
In Wednesday’s full episode, Swift debuted the sultry album cover and confirmed the album will be released on October 3, 2025. She also joked that male NFL fans “want more of me.”

Swifties React to Mahomes’ Involvement
While Mahomes’ role in the behind-the-scenes reveal was minor, fans couldn’t help but find humor in the situation.
“Swifties, we’ve done it,” one fan commented on social media. “We have NFL coaches talking about Taylor. We are taking over the world.”
