Which states are getting new HomeGoods locations? What does HomeGoods sell?

T.J. Maxx and Marshalls are not the only retailers opening new stores this August.

HomeGoods, a sister store of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, has already opened three new stores this month and plans to open at least one more, according to its website. All three brands are owned by TJX Companies, which also owns Sierra and HomeSense.

The newest batch of openings follows Ernie Herrman, CEO of TJX Companies, announcing in May 2024 a goal of opening at least 1,300 additional locations globally across the TJX portfolio of stores.

The company’s first two stores opened in Massachusetts in 1977, according to the TJX website, and the company acquired Marshalls in 1995. At the time, Marshalls was the second largest off-price retailer in the U.S., and it had 496 stores.

HomeGoods was introduced in 1992, according to the TJX website, and offers an “eclectic selection of home fashions from around the world.”

TJX stated in its first quarter earnings report that it owned and operated 1,338 T.J. Maxx locations and 1,234 Marshalls locations. The company also owns and operates 950 HomeGoods stores, 123 Sierra stores and 75 HomeSense stores.

Here’s what to know about this month’s HomeGoods openings.

Which states are getting new HomeGoods locations?

New HomeGoods stores have recently opened at the following locations, according to the retailer’s website:

  • 1534 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, Illinois

  • 1463 University Drive, Burlington, North Carolina

  • 3200 Columbus Center, Columbus, Indiana

Additionally, at least one more store is scheduled to open on Aug. 21 at 123 Grey Street, Suite 20A, in East Aurora, New York.

What does HomeGoods sell?

According to HomeGoods’ website, the chain sells an “ever-changing mix of merchandise” that includes furniture, rugs, cookware and lighting, among other items.

The chain has both a standalone and superstore format, which combines a HomeGoods with a TJ Maxx or Marshalls store.
