Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime girlfriend, Georgina Rodríguez, are officially engaged!

The Argentinian-Spanish model announced that the Portuguese soccer player had proposed by posting a photo of her hand — featuring the massive oval diamond ring — lying on top of his hand on Instagram on Aug. 11.

“Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” she captioned the post. Ronaldo and Rodríguez began dating around 2017 after they met while she was working at a Gucci store in Madrid.

The couple now share a large family, including twins Eva Maria and Mateo (born in June 2017) and daughters Alana (born in November 2017) and Bella (born in April 2022). Ronaldo also has a son, Cristiano Jr. (born June 2010), from a previous relationship. Ronaldo and Rodríguez announced in April 2022 that Bella’s newborn twin brother had sadly died.

Throughout the highs and lows of their relationship, Rodríguez has started a modeling career, launched business ventures, become an influencer and starred in the Netflix documentary, I Am Georgina.

So, who is Cristiano Ronaldo’s fiancée? Here’s everything to know about Georgina Rodríguez and her relationship with the legendary soccer player.

Rodríguez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but she moved with her mother and her sister, Ivana, to a small town in Spain when she was a child, according to Tudum. She was raised in the town of Jaca, Spain, which is about 200 miles northwest of Barcelona.

Rodríguez moved to Madrid when she was 18 but returned to Jaca nine years after leaving for her documentary, I Am Georgina. In the docuseries, she and her sister, Ivana, embraced the luscious green landscape while reminiscing on their childhood filled with making homemade jam and custard.

“I felt really lonely in school,” she recalled in I Am Georgina. “I loved to be by myself, at peace in my own world.”

When she was a child, Rodríguez said she struggled to find the right group of friends, so her mom signed her up for ballet. She quickly fell in love with dancing and continued in the sport until she was 16. Although she quit dancing more seriously, Rodríguez has continued showing off her skills at various events and shows over the years.

After she stopped pursuing a career in dance, Rodríguez turned her interests towards fashion. She moved to Madrid as a young adult and worked several odd jobs before eventually landing a job as a sales associate at Gucci.

Rodríguez’s personal and professional life changed one day around 2017 when her Gucci coworker asked her to stay a few minutes past closing for a client. Shortly afterwards, Ronaldo walked in, and she remembered thinking he was “very handsome” and “two meters tall,” as she said in I Am Georgina. For his part, Ronaldo thought Rodríguez was a “very interesting girl, so much more mature for her age.”

“I felt something inside that can’t be explained, as if we had known each other all our lives,” she told Vogue Arabia in May 2025. “I remember that when we held hands for the first time I felt inexplicable peace and energy. When people are in love like we are, they know what that strong connection is. That spark we had since we met has also grown and matured over time.”

Although the two briefly maintained a professional relationship, they took things to the next level after they ran into each other at another event, and he asked her to dinner. They began seeing each other, and they made their relationship official with their first red carpet appearance together — along with Ronaldo’s eldest son, Cristiano Jr. — at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017.

“We had a very special start to our relationship,” Rodríguez recalled in her documentary. “Many times he’d come after work. He would come, I remember once, once in a Bugatti. My coworkers went crazy. They get there on the bus, and I would leave in a Bugatti. I mean people couldn’t believe it.”

Ronaldo added, “It was funny because I would wait for her outside the store in these flashy cars I have. … We would go home and there we would go into our own world.”

After she went public with her relationship with Ronaldo in 2017, Rodríguez was quickly thrust into the spotlight and developed a major following. However, Rodríguez has been purposeful since they began dating to create her own career as a model, businesswoman, influencer and entrepreneur.

“Even though some people label me as ‘the girlfriend of,’ I am very proud to be your wife, and of our family, and there is nothing negative about it,” she told Vogue Arabia. “On the contrary, I have shown through my personality and my strength that I have my own light and path to follow.”

Rodríguez has modeled for several brands and publications — including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. She has also been the lead model in several campaigns for Guess, Gucci, Prada and Chanel. In addition to digital and print campaigns, Rodríguez walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week in March 2024. When she’s not modeling, Rodríguez has attended several fashion shows over the years — including Coperni, Valentino, Elie Saab, Ludovic de Saint Sernin and Fatima Alabdulqader, among others.

In addition to modeling professionally, Rodríguez also shares her own photos and videos on social media and has garnered an Instagram following of nearly 70 million. Rodríguez frequently shares photos with Ronaldo and their kids, as well as paid partnerships with big brands, such as Alo Yoga, Charlotte Tilbury, Porsche, Moncler and Dior.

Ahead of their engagement, Rodríguez and Ronaldo co-founded the real estate agency, Bellhatria Real Estate, which is “dedicated to offering exceptional properties,” per the agency’s Instagram.

“Professionally, I consider myself an ambitious person, because in the end, ambition is also what makes you want to do everything perfectly and for everything to turn out well,” she told El País in 2022.

Rodríguez let fans get to know her better in her Spanish reality television series, Soy Georgina, or I Am Georgina, on Netflix. The docuseries premiered in January 2022 and ran for three seasons before it came to an end in September 2024.

I Am Georgina followed Rodríguez as she reflected on her upbringing, her sudden rise to fame and her everyday life as a businesswoman and partner to Ronaldo. In addition to filming Rodríguez, the show also included the soccer player, their five children and other relatives.

Although Rodríguez has previously expressed how much the docuseries helped her career, she said that she doesn’t have plans to film a fourth season.

“The reality show has been one of the most important professional experiences and the one that has made me most excited,” she told Vogue Arabia. “It has been a lot of work and requires so much effort. I like that it has given me the opportunity to show the real ‘me’ to the world. It has been the most important and large-scale project that I have done so far. However, at the moment, I do not plan to continue with the reality show.”

Rodríguez and Ronaldo are proud parents to five children in their blended family: Cristiano Jr., Eva Maria, Mateo, Alana and Bella.

The couple’s eldest son, Cristiano Jr., is named after his dad. Ronaldo welcomed his firstborn with another woman but has kept the identity of his child’s mother private. In 2017, the soccer player welcomed twins Eva and Mateo via surrogate, and the following month, the couple announced that Rodríguez was pregnant with their first child.

In October 2021, Ronaldo revealed that he and Rodriguez were expecting twins, but in April 2022, he shared the devastating news that the boy, baby Ángel, had died.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram at the time. “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”

Despite the tragic loss, both Ronaldo and Rodríguez have focused on raising their children together in their “loving” home in Saudi Arabia.

“The most important thing is that they grow up in a healthy and loving environment, and we are very close and present parents,” she told Vogue Arabia. “Even though they have all the possibilities in the world, we make them work and understand that they have to be fighters, and that they are very lucky to have everything they have. Our job as parents is to make them value and grow into good people, grateful for life.”

After eight years of dating, Ronaldo proposed to Rodríguez with an oval-shaped, giant diamond ring. Rodríguez shared the news by posting a photo of her hand — wearing her new bling — lying on top of his on Instagram on Aug. 11.

“Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” she wrote in the caption.

Although the couple have not released details on the sparkler, engagement ring specialist Laura Taylor told PEOPLE that the “value could easily exceed around $2 million.”
