Several country stars have taken to social media lately to warn their fans about getting scammed by fake accounts. Here’s what they are warning their fans of.

On August 7, singer Roseanne Cash — daughter of the late Johnny Cash — posted on her Instagram that someone posing as her hacked her Facebook account and is asking fans for money.

“Someone has created an AI-generated image of me, hacked into my official Facebook account, and is using that image to ask for money,” writes Cash.

She continues, “My FB page is monitored by my management to post news and tour dates. I don’t even know how to access it. If you come across this before we get it removed, please ignore. This is very disconcerting. And I don’t think I have that many wrinkles anyway.”

In the caption on the photo message, Cash added, “Ugh. Yikes. WTF. What a world.”

A couple of days later, country star Dwight Yoakam posted a similar message. His Instagram photo is labeled “Avoid Imposters. Always look for the [blue] check.”

In the caption, Yoakam’s team writes, “Dwight does not contact fans personally through private message on social media sites, email, text messaging, or phone calls. If you or anyone you know is contacted personally by anyone claiming to be Dwight know that it is not Dwight but an impostor that should be reported to the social media platform that they are reaching out on. To avoid imposters, make sure the profile handle reads @dwightyoakam. – D Team.”

This is not a recent problem, either. In July, country singer Darius Rucker called out an imposter on X (formerly known as Twitter), writing, “Don’t you have anything better to do than try to scam people. U guys are the friggin worse. U are not me and have nothing to do with me. Friggin losers man!”

And Duck Dynasty star Sadie Robertson posted a message at the end of July as well on her Instagram stories that read, “Scam alert! Guest booking fraud warning. We’ve been made aware of individuals falsely claiming to represent our podcast in an effort to book guests.”
