Bobby Flay had some fun teasing girlfriend Brooke Williamson in a promo for Beat Bobby Flay.
In the funny video, posted on Thursday, Aug. 7, Williamson weighed in on the question: “What does it take to beat Bobby Flay?”
“Have the confidence to know that you can beat him,” she began her answer. “Experience means everything. Everyone walking into this kitchen has experience. Know that you can do it, and just do it!”
However, she didn’t realize Flay was standing behind her, nodding and reacting to her comments with cheeky facial expressions.
“lol… I’m so clueless 🤦🏼♀️,” Williamson commented on the Instagram post.
Laila Ali, who joined Flay and Williamson on the Food Network series’ latest episode, also shared her thoughts on the best way to beat Flay on the show.
“I think I got the secret sauce,” she said. “You definitely have to come in here confident. You have to be calm enough to stay focused, because if you’re here you definitely have the skills, but I think a lot of people just lose it in the commotion of things.”
Finally, Flay offered his own take on the topic.
“Cook within yourself,” he advised. “Don’t try to come here and do things you’ve never done before. You make great food — that’s why you’re here. Stay with it.
Flay, who was first romantically linked earlier this year, opened up about their relationship in an interview with PEOPLE in June.

“Well, first of all, I’ve been friends with Brooke forever,” he said. “I mean, she and I have been friends for a long time and so we shot this show before we started actually officially dating. So it has always kind of been the same for me.”
“She’s been on the show basically since the inception,” he noted of BBQ Brawl, which premiered in 2019. “So it’s always been fun to kind of have her around because we’ve been friends, but now going forward, it’s a little bit different. So we’ll see what that brings.”
The Bobby’s Triple Threat star also reflected on the pair’s similarities.
“I love working with Brooke,” he said. “We have a lot in common. We’re very lucky. We’re both chefs. We both have kids. We’re both parents.”
Williamson has a son, Hudson, from her previous marriage to Nick Roberts, and Flay has a daughter, Sophie Flay, from his marriage to Kate Connelly.
“We are both in the restaurant business,” Flay added. “We have tons to talk about in terms of the things that we love to do besides just go and have dinner every once in a while. So it’s been really great. And one of the things I really like about being in a relationship with Brooke is that she’s great to bounce things off of. Like we ask each other’s opinion about things that we’re doing food wise or restaurant wise or business wise, all the time. So it’s really nice to have kind of a best friend that you’re dating that can also be helpful answering the questions that you have.”
PEOPLE confirmed the pair is dating back in March. A source said at the time: “They have been friends for a while and recently decided to jump in. Her divorce last year probably gave them some additional shared experiences and over the last few weeks, love bloomed.”
