‘Star Wars’ Legends Reunite in Front of Fans at Fan Expo: ‘The Heroes’ originally appeared on Parade.
Star Wars fans got the ultimate treat at Fan Expo Boston.
Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor reunited on stage at the event, turning the link-up into a nostalgic moment amongst fans in the crowd and at home.
Complex shared a clip of the moment via Instagram on Sunday, August 10, and the love between the former costars seeped through fans’ phone screens. Hayden was on stage in front of Stormtroopers as Ewan surprised him on stage. The men embraced one another with a big hug, and Hayden gave Ewan a gentle kiss on the cheek.
Ewan and Hayden are Star Wars legends, as the latter portrayed Anakin Skywalker, who later turned into Darth Vader. Ewan portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin’s mentor … before he led the dark side.
“Brothers 4L,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the post. A second added, “The heroes.”
“The mentor and the chosen one,” a third commented.
Meanwhile, a separate fan added that their brother snagged a photo with the actors at the event.
Ewan made his Star Wars debut in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Hayden joined him in the following films Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).
The pair reprised their roles in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi in 2022. Hayden appeared in Ahsoka the following year, and Ewan is rumored to reprise his role during the second season.
“It meant a great deal to me – to come back. This is a character that has defined my life in so many ways, and getting to sort of continue my journey with him is just hugely meaningful,” Hayden said during a May 2022 press conference for Obi-Wan Kenobi promotions. “There wasn’t a lot to wrestle with, it was a pretty easy decision. When I got the phone call and the invitation to come back, it was a very quick yes.”
