This Hard Rocker Recently Revealed He’s ‘the Biggest Oasis Fan Since Day One’ originally appeared on Parade.
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich recently made a surprise appearance on the Howard Stern Show to announce the debut of the new Metallica channel, “Maximum Metallica,” on SiriusXM and he also made a big revelation.
He’s an Oasis superfan.

While Metallica is known for their pummeling heavy metal, Ulrich told Stern he’s a huge fan of Oasis–a more melodic and traditional rock band–and has already caught the band twice on their much talked about reunion tour.
During his appearance from London, Stern asked the Metallica drummer if he’d caught one of the recent Oasis shows in London.
“We went to Oasis. Yes, we did,” Ulrich said. “I was actually also at the first show in Cardiff, a month ago. And so this was my second show here at Wembley, two nights ago. And even as awesome and as next level as it was in Cardiff a month ago, which was what the first show in 15 years, it was even better at Wembley a couple days ago.”

The radio personality was a bit surprised to learn that Ulrich was an Oasis fan, adding that the drummer’s eclectic tastes sometimes catch him by surprise.
Ulrich confirmed that he’s not only a fan of the Gallagher brothers, but he’s “the biggest Oasis fan since day one.”
“In the early ‘90s I heard the song ‘Supersonic,’ which was the first single that came to radio in America. And I go that sounds like that band that I’ve been reading about. And lo and behold, that was right…It was just about the attitude of the confidence and the whole sort of British kind of, we don’t give a shit. We don’t give a f–k. We’re gonna be the biggest band in the world that oozed out of the speakers as ‘Supersonic’ was playing. And I’ve been a fan ever since.”
And Oasis did not disappoint Ulrich at their recent shows.
“Apart from one song, all the songs they played live are from the first two albums, and that’s f–king insane to have that kind of output and that kind of quality of songs that basically all were written and released over a three-year period,” he added.
“And it’s a whole other thing to see ’em on their home field. I mean, it’s like a cultural event. It’s like a football match, you know, like an English football match where everybody’s rooting for the same team,” Ulrich continued. “It’s truly an otherworldly phenomenon to see these guys in the U.K., especially now after being gone for 15 years. That’s put a big smile on my face this summer.”
