Pete Davidson Compares Himself and Comedy Icon to ‘Little Girls’ originally appeared on Parade.
Pete Davidson gushed about working with comedy icon Eddie Murphy, and he even compared their dynamic to “little girls.”
“He’s the f–king man. He’s Eddie Murphy. There’s only one,” Davidson, 31, told People about working with his co-star on their new film, The Pickup. “I was super geeked, [and I] obviously tried to play it cool.”
The comedians star in the action film as two security guards whose vehicle is stolen by criminal Zoe (Keke Palmer), who’s on a mission to avenge her dad by robbing a casino.
While speaking to the outlet, Davidson explained that director Tim Story made the schedule so that he worked with Palmer, 31, first as they settled into Atlanta. He then eventually got to work with Murphy as they shot most of their scenes outside of a truck.
“By the time we got into the truck, we were super tight,” Davidson explained. “If I was just in a truck alone with him day one I would’ve probably lost my f–king mind. But it was gradual and it was eased in.”
The Bodies Bodies Bodies star continued, “Then by the time we were in that truck for two to three months, [I was] just screaming. I was just screaming at my hero. But we got on real fast and we had a really, really good time.”
“We were like little girls, we could not stop laughing,” Davidson said of his dynamic with Murphy. “It’s hard to explain, it was just like everything that I like, he likes. This sounds so embarrassing, but we just love all the same movies and same music, and we would play each other music and do quotes from Jaws.”

Palmer agreed with her co-star and told the outlet that Davidson and Murphy became “so comfortable with each other” that they would often break character and riff off each other.
Filming the movie is an experience that Davidson will never forget. “It was almost like I wrote this fantasy and it came true. It was super crazy,” he said.
