Carnie Wilson Says She Still Feels Brian Wilson’s Presence originally appeared on Parade.
Carnie Wilson shared an emotional tribute to her dad, Brian Wilson, after his funeral and said that she can still feel the Beach Boy founder’s presence in her life after his death.
“Today we laid my Daddy to rest. It was incredibly difficult to see that happen, but at the same time it gave more closure and more of a feeling of restful peace,” Carnie captioned a photo of flowers shared via Instagram on Thursday, August 7.
The Wilson Phillips singer admitted that the weeks since her dad’s death have been “extremely challenging” and she “wishes he could come back.”
She continued, “There’s so many signs that he gives me every day and I know that he’s around. He can hear me and he can see me. He makes that apparent. I’m so grateful for this. Today we had a couple of monarch butterflies that just would not leave the site. It was comforting and beautiful.”

Carnie added that she had a recent conversation with Gunnar Nelson, the son of Ricky Nelson, and his words gave her comfort when he explained that “the world will have his music to sing to and remember him every single solitary day until we are all gone.”
The “Hold On” singer ended her message by thanking Brian for contributing “so much happiness” to the world and then thanking fans for their support.
Brian died after years of ongoing health issues. It was announced that he had been diagnosed with dementia in February 2024. Before his death, his seven children filed for a conservatorship for their father citing “major neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia).”
His family shared the news of his death via Instagram.
“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” the statement read alongside a picture of Brian smiling while sitting on a bench. “We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”
He was 82.
