Tori Spelling is never one to hold back on any and all anecdotes related to her personal life — but even she knew fans were going to be shocked (and downright horrified) in response to her latest story.
Speaking on her MisSpelling podcast on Wednesday, August 6, Spelling, 52, recalled the time that she and then-husband Dean McDermott found a “dismembered body part” — as the episode’s description teases — in a Victorian hotel in Toronto.
To be more specific, it was actually the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum’s dog who found the “precisely chopped off” appendage. Yikes.
“It was like the most prestigious hotel in Toronto and old school and beautiful. And we were like, ‘OK, we’ve been working hard … we ordered room service and we were gonna watch a movie,” Spelling began the story, explaining that they “found a toe.”
“Plot twist,” she quipped. “Didn’t see that one coming, did you?”
Going into even more detail, the True Tori alum told listeners that it was her dog, Musso, who alerted her and McDermott to the toe — because the pup was gnawing on it.
“He was chewing on something at the end of the bed,” Spelling recalled. “And we’re like, ‘What does he have?’ And we kinda went back and forth, like, ‘Did he get our food? Like, did he find a bone here? Like, what is he chewing on?’”
After yanking the mysterious item out of her dog’s mouth, “that’s when I found it was a severed human big toe,” she said, surmising that it was a man’s toe. “And the creepy part is it wasn’t that old. Like, it wasn’t that decayed.”
The body part had been “precisely chopped off,” the actress remembered, but the nail bed was still intact.
After putting the toe in a napkin — “Dean brought it down to [the hotel staff],” she said — “the hotel kind of had no reaction” to the horror, other than giving the then-couple a credit, Spelling claimed.
Ultimately, she and McDermott — with whom she shares five children — decided to still stay in the room that night out of exhaustion.
“We’re like, ‘Turn a blind toe to it and just move on,'” Spelling joked.
